Headed out this Wednesday with son and brother in law for a pre Christmas hunt. Hope we can kick up a few in North Central KS.

I'm envious of all you out there hunting later in the season. I live in TN and only make to SD for the opener every year. Hopefully once kids are older and life slows some I can make a second trip out. Keep the updates coming!

South Dakota is a special place. Glad you stayed after it and got to experience some of what SD has to offer.

Try to walk into the wind. Reduces your sound and easier for dogs to scent. If you can walk to pinch points or towards less cover to force a flush if the birds are running on you. Just keep after it you will learn so much on your own in the field.

Caution! Making a trip to South Dakota to pheasant hunt can become very addictive.

From about a month out till opening day I lose my concentration on anything other than hunting. Happens every year.

I fly out Friday morning from TN. Counting down the hours at this point. This will be my 14th year. I enjoy meeting up with family and hunting buddies. Looks like weather should be good for the opener other than there might be a few muddy roads and fields. Good luck to everyone headed out.
