    Poachers

The most common type of law-breaking hunters here are deer hunters. Without a doubt. But part of that is because there's just a lot more of them too. Hunting over bait is not permitted here. And yet plenty of hunters still try to do it. They've really tried to crack down on it with stiffer...

I've met that last guy a couple times at the annual Crappie Contest.

    Poachers

Unless its your land, I would assume they have permission. Don't take measures into your hands unless you own the land. Its not your job to enforce trespass laws, its the job of law enforcement. If you suspect someone is poaching, call it in.

    Poachers

Remember, law enforcement has to catch someone in the act to cite them. Or get them to admit to it. I'm not saying you shouldn't call in a half hacked apart deer carcass, but doing so likely isn't going anywhere.

    Poachers

I haven't ever witnessed someone "poaching" in nearly 30 years of hunting. You can bet your hind end I'd call it in if I knew that was the case though. I generally assume someone that is hunting or fishing is doing it legally and its not my responsibility to ensure they are. Its on law...

Opening weekend and Monday, Shocked!!! Kimball, Chamberlain, Platte area.

Pheasants Forever is in the business of promoting upland bird hunting. They aren't going to publicly broadcast that hunting is going to be worse. That's not good marketing.

    Non Toxic requirements

I get it. I don't care for steel either. If I had a choice, I would not choose that. But for logisitcal purposes, if you're moving from one type of public land to another, I could definitely see it being a problem. Heck, Chad posted above how he had 2 lead shells in his vest unknowingly and...

Not sure where you saw or heard that, but SD stopped doing their roadside counts years ago. The only surefire way to confirm whether there's birds around is to get your boots on the ground or talk to someone that lives in the area, IMO. You obviously did that now, so the results speak for...

    Non Toxic requirements

To be perfectly honest, if I was constantly hunting various types of public land, I'd just switch over to 100% non-toxic shot. Going back and forth based on what type of public land it is would not be worth the headache. I could see myself using lead shot where I wasn't supposed to and getting...

    Dumb,slow,pen raised birds.

That's been my experience too. I've only ever encountered a released flare nare when pheasant hunting once in 25 years. It had a band on one of its legs and was clearly not very smart. I've been to a game farm twice where they released a bunch half an hour before we got there. I only went...

Dog Starting Heat Cycle - Bring for SD Opener ?

If you asked your vet if you could neuter a female they would look at you like you were missing a few marbles.

Dog Starting Heat Cycle - Bring for SD Opener ?

I think you mean spay. Females don't get neutered. Regardless, I am of the opinion that a dog should not be intact unless you intend to breed them. There's no point.

I don't think anyone that takes upland bird hunting even remotely seriously would disagree with you on this. You don't have to be drinking kool aid to see this either.

    Bird shooting lesson learned

I've definitely cream puffed a few roosters over the years to the point where they were hamburger. I'm naturally a very quick shot so when a rooster flushes within range, I shoot. My brain doesn't have the time to tell me "let it fly further away before you shoot." Plus I also hunt ruffed...

Well, the thing is, he's either a chinese bot or he's webguy hiding behind the curtain. So a ban really wouldn't do much. Every time someone responds to him (me included), you've been "goosed" by a fake entity.

Explain to me why there is no "honor" involved. Its no different than hunting an upland bird or a wild turkey. You buy a license and try to fill it. Most people hunting big game spend a heck of a lot more money than small game hunters do, and deer hunting is the most popular target species in...
