Yes - I would say every 2-3 years. You can see your odds in each zone per annual report. Preference points help tremendously.

Solar Farms = Habitat Destruction ?

Here is another example (other side of the world) where the drive for bio-energy is truly a detriment to the environment. https://news.mongabay.com/2022/07/deforestation-in-borneo-threatens-one-in-four-orangutans-study-says/ Companies like P&G source most all of their requirements (used to...

Solar Farms = Habitat Destruction ?

Corn for fuel (ethanol) widely displacing CRP grass. Conservation on the local and regional level rarely win vs. the "AGENDA".

    prairie chicken

I have never been drawn two consecutive years. Last year the online site was initially inaccurate stating we were not drawn and even showed that the preference point had went up 1. Then the success letter came in the mail ... checked online and sure enough it said we were drawn. Links to...

Napolean is in the South Central part of ND. Decent area most years. It is now corn country so keep that in mind when deciding when to go.

Solar Farms = Habitat Destruction ?

One issue I have with the current administration is move from the US being net neutral (actually slightly net exporter) of natural gas and oil back to a net importer. All it did was raise prices and maybe more importantly provide $$ to other nations (often used to support war, confilict, and...

Solar Farms = Habitat Destruction ?

How about outboard boat motors especially two cycle engines ? Two of my favorite fishing spots are small lakes where all I use is a 12' or 14' aluminum boat and electric trolling motor.

Solar Farms = Habitat Destruction ?

I love my battery driven tools and ice auger. In each case the value proposition of the cord free, battery-operated power tool is quite high. Regarding ice augers, most people never utilize the few advantages they may offer. My next lawn mower will be electric because the technology is there...

Solar Farms = Habitat Destruction ?

The Minneapolis-based utility ceased operations at one of three generating units at the 1,700-megawatt Sherco last year and has plans to shutter the remaining two units in 2026 and 2030, respectively. In its place, Xcel is investing $1.1 billion in three solar farms with a combined 710 MW of...

Solar Farms = Habitat Destruction ?

Anyone every put panels on their house or cabin? Is there a real economic impact to your electricity costs or is it just an adrenaline rush tied to doing your part on climate change. Walz's 2040 MN energy plan will accelerate sun and wind generated power in MN. Rumor (maybe real) is that if...

Solar Farms = Habitat Destruction ?

I think windmills are OK in pheasant country. We have shot pheasants near one on several occasions. That said, I view them as a landscape eyesore. Solar farms basically take the land out of grass, pasture, cleared woodlot, what ever. Habitat gone and obviously hunting gone too. There...

Is Bismuth Shot really more effective than Steel?

Old shotguns with old barrels have been my only reason to shoot bismuth ... usually I just use them where I can still shoot lead.

Is Bismuth Shot really more effective than Steel?

Marketing more often than not works and for many outdoorsmen a higher price means "must be better" or "more exclusive". This is true in just about everything in life ... clothing, haircuts, restaurants, outdoor hobbies, sporting equipment ... BOSS has done a great job marketing and if...

    Bird flu

Bird flu tends to impact waterfowl especially snow geese more than upland birds. Unless you are hunting near a chicken or turkey farm infected with bird flu I think the odds are darn low.

Wild bird hunting might be cheaper than I thought

I live on the east side of the metro. The place I hunted was almost exactly 150 miles door to field. Not near Marshall ... it used to be much better area a decade ago. Neither spot has any Huns that I have ever seen or heard.
