Experiences going from one bird dog to two?

My younger dog is now in her 3rd season and it's been awesome. She's gained a lot more independence and is searching her own spots rather than defaulting to checking out my olders dog area. Already have had a ton of times where she finds birds that my older dog had missed due to positioning...

    O/U with a Student Budget

Cabelas has their exclusive version (basically the E but no engraving) for $650 at the moment.

    O/U with a Student Budget

I snagged a new Stevens 555e online for $625 two years ago. Really like them as far as cheap O/Us go.

What is Perfect Point of Impact??

If ignoring the shot string then yeah full pattern over the full bird would be best. Think about ground swatting a bird, you put the full pattern on it rather than try shooting for the head or something, unless its turkey and you have full chokes. However if it's flying and you have shot...

    Boss shotgun ammunition

Yeah this trend has been driving me crazy. If you need a longer shot you can't just put in a few pellets and have them magically equal a regular payload. The smaller pellets will fall off too soon which means you only have at best half the payload for the long shot. And if the smaller pellets...

    Alpha 300 + tt25 vs pro 550+ +tt15 ?

This sounds a bit more like they mean the device won't get damaged by the magnets, not that it won't cause interference.

    Watch for Astro 430

Depending how you hunt I would still recommend the watch. I have the 300 and use it with my watch. The watch is so much easier for quick checking where my dogs are (plus the direction and distance to the truck). It's much better than staring at a controller screen. But I use the watch everyday...

    Good recipes

Not a main course, but the buffalo chicken dip on the franks buffalo sauce works great with pheasant.

    ND Snow Trip.

Snow keeps them cool so they aren't losing much water to panting. But still need a few sips of water to actually be hydrated. Really don't need much though.

    Alpha 300 + tt25 vs pro 550+ +tt15 ?

One small thing to add. The handheld can have the compass messed up by magnets and the watch will be unaffected as long as it's compass is good. The handheld is just telling the watch a direction based on the two GPS coordinates. So the watch is the part needing the calibration/magnet avoidance.

    Bismuth #3 shot

From my own ballistics calculator, Bismuth 3s penetration are good out to 55 yards on pheasant. So that would be a real good long shot option paired with a full choke.

    Alpha 300 + tt25 vs pro 550+ +tt15 ?

Ah yeah that's the same vest I have which is what messes up my watch stuff. I've just been dealing with it but It's tempting to get different pouch's without the magnets, but they really do work well. One really nice feature of the Alpha 300 is that the truck waypoint shows up on the Compass...

    Alpha 300 + tt25 vs pro 550+ +tt15 ?

Do you have any new gear with magnets? My watch gets messed up pretty often since I have a magnet close to that hand. Also both the tt15 and tt25 work for both the pro 550+ and Alpha 300 so you don't need a new collar unless you want the upgrades. And the collar won't affect accuracy other. How...

Does South Dakota law enforcement use pheasant decoys?

Sometimes I wonder if those shows are just staged. But I've also meet some really dumb people out there so I can believe it.

Now all the govt has to do is ban foreign ammo

Yup, American culture has loved entrepreneurs who ship production to other countries and then turn around and yell at the government because we don't have any jobs here.

Does South Dakota law enforcement use pheasant decoys?

This isn't entrapment... A normal person isn't tempted to do something illegal just because it's there.

    Watch for Astro 430

I think the only answer is the instinct. I love mine. Very rugged, simple, great battery life. It's honestly perfect for hunting. And I think it's the cheapest one that can pair to the dog trackers.

Tips for getting GSP back into hunting condition

Other than potential heat I find it hard to overrun a dog on pen raised birds. It's really just not a hard day between taking the time to let birds out and such. Just need to pay attention to the dog and if he's trying to lay down then let him take as much breaks as he wants.

    Onx for SD

I'm really curious where you live. Driving along and seeing hunters in the field and even shooting a bird feels perfectly natural in pheasant country. Unless you're literally in the ditch or a dog is running into the road. I would only take a second to applaud the shot.

    Flagging in the field

I think the vast majority don't require anything for small game. Some do during rifle seasons. Otherwise it's a minority to need any during small game. https://dsgouterwear.com/blog/blaze-orange-hunting-requirements-by-state-usa/ (Not sure on the accuracy for all states)
