    Wanted: Semi auto 16 gauge

If you have to shoot steel, just save the money for a new Browning A5. Now, I may go against the grain here for some, but if you do, try to find the stalker model. Its all black. The camo ones are nice but Browning had some issues with the stocks and foreends on some of their camo guns...

    28ga

Here’s where I am right now. I have 2 Franchi 48 AL 28 gauges. I am considering a SBE 3 and selling one of the 48 ALs. I have read that the SBE 3 patterns at 90%-100% high. Not sure I want that. Any opinions?

Great stuff!!! I bought some of the chokes Trulock makes for the Franchi Instinct 16 ga for my Iside. Did you buy those or did you get something else from Trulock?

This is where I miss birds

Great story. I grew up shooting a Rem. 1100 20 ga. Went to a 12 later on then sold it and went back to a 20 ga in a Verona and a Franchi 48 AL. I now have 1 12 ga that is about to find its way down the road to help fund a Browning Auto-5 in 16 gauge. I have a newer one. Now its time for a...

Those are nice shotguns. On my bucket list after I get a classic Sweet Sixteen.

This is where I miss birds

Most of my misses this year were too far in front. I have always hated when someone says, “you’re behind it”. I took that to heart this year and tried to get out in front and was too far out there. I had to reset my mind between walks and rethink my leads. I think I was thinking too much...

Do you take a poke at the long range birds ?

Same here. I’m much more selective. I’m definitely the kind of person that likes to get out in the fields and watch the dog work. Bagging a bird or two is icing on the cake.

    New a5 20 guage

I like my sweet sixteen enough that I’m hoping they make the 20 in the black stalker configuration soon so I can get one for duck hunting. And I already have a Franchi Affinity and a Beretta A300

    O/U Which Barrel?

I was “always” a bottom first or a right first. Until I got some double trigger guns. Now I’m a whichever choke is the best for the shot I’m presented first. I never thought I’d like a double trigger. I can’t shoot a pump to save my life, but I can work two triggers.

Pheasants Forever- SCAM or do they help upland hunters?

Here’s my take, for what it worth, on just about any organization like PF or QU or DU, etc…. They are working toward a goal. We may or may not like the goal. But you have two choices. You can get in and be involved and help shape the direction it goes or you can sit on the outside and let...

    Reloading manual

Is there a “best” reloading manual for shotguns? I used to reload for my dad many years ago but haven’t reloaded my own in a while. I want to get started loading my own 28 gauge and maybe 20 or 16 in the future. Thanks.

Looking for a new 20 or 16 gauge side by side shotgun...your opinions are welcomed!

Just picked up a CZ Bobwhite G2 28 gauge. So far so good. Like those double triggers. Another option I did recently hear about is an Ithaca (SKB) 280 that you can send to SKB and have a 2nd set of barrels fitted to it. I’m going to check with SKB but I like the idea. My gun has short...

    Help deciding a gun

I have the A5 in 16 ga. Its a great gun. The 20 is nice. Only comes in wood. I have a friend that shoots a Silver in 12 ga and its pretty nice. The silver is nice and is reminiscent of the B2000 style hump. Its only 9 oz to 1 lb heavier than the A5. Others to look at: Beretta A400 upland...

    20 guage auto?

I did but almost can’t believe it. I probably won’t blink for long. May have to send a few down the road so I can get one.

    28ga

I agree with the who puts it in the head every single time. Have to recognize that there will be some body shots and some marginal shots. Here’s two places I don’t quite agree. I don’t think using a 28 is a novelty. At one time, I was shooting a lot of skeet and trap with occasional sporting...

    Trulok choke tubes

I’m going to vigorously agree with Bob here. Ported isn’t worth the expense. They get dirtier and that’s about it. I bought some ported cokes for my son’s trap gun. Its had lots of shells through it. If I had it to do over, I’d get extended non-ported chokes. I can’t tell they do a thing...

    New guns to look at

Revising my post since I failed to read the last sentence of the OP. Not sure which shotguns allow you to change the safety. I do like the new Browning A5 shotguns. 20 only comes in wood and blued. A400 can be had with wooden furniture as well. Hard to beat either one of these in my mind.

    20 guage auto?

I’ve got a good collection. Its very difficult at times but I have a son that is starting to claim some of what I have. Right now, my favorite is my A5 Sweet 16. My son has laid claim to my A300 so I wanted something to replace it. Decided I wasn’t going to break the bank so I got a Franchi...

    20 guage auto?

One of these found its way into my truck today too. Almost got a Benelli but it was almost double the cost.
