    Copper Shot?

Do you take many 50 yard shots? Half a football field, that sounds like a good poke. If I would take a 50 yarder, it sure wouldn't be my 1st shot! Using my IC tube, not the best option for me. I should shoot my backstop and just see how many pellets I would have in a 30 inch circle at...

    Pheasant Food

Dead plants are so hard to ID, for me anyway. Yellow nutsedge, from my experience, doesn't have much of a "nut", almost like an green onion. Curly dock has those "flat" seeds and mutures early...it could be that maybe, I don't recall ever pulling one. Those birds are pretty adaptive to find...

    New upland vest

When I wear a vest it is a 15-20 year of Cabelas traditional. I have few requirements, 1st requirement is an easy front loading game pouch, secondly it needs to have 2 large bellowed shell pockets. After that, several misc pockets for phone, bell, face mask, etc. The front loader pouch work...

    Bells on flushers

We need to realize we have folks here that haven't been in cover that was over knee high, so they aren't going to be able to quite comprehend what "heavy cover" really is. Throw them into that and they would lose their birds and their dogs. If you can see your dog 20 yards away, then you...

What’s farmland selling for in your area(s)?

I don't want to talk about these marginal areas with any farmer. It will just get their wheels turning about getting those acres into production too. It is happening all around me.

    Velvetize pheasant with baking soda?

My mother used a crock pot for pheasant. Loved my mom, but that did not do anything good for pheasants. If you haven't tried frying pheasant, try it. IMHO, frying makes the best pheasant, pick a breading or seasoning. The down side is, your home smells like fried food, but it will be...

    How’s your shooting been?

Are you guys done.....Ok. In my better shooting days, I once shot 30 birds with a single box of shells. Yes, a few doubles in there, just for showing off. I hunted exclusively alone that season.

Do u shoot a second time at a bird that’s been hit?

Maybe the copper plated do penatrate better. In my 3 birds Sunday, I found 7 pellets under the skin and one in the meat cleaning them.

how do you handle different shells for mixed bag?

I reload with the Win AA hulls. Grey are 5s and red will be 6s and maybe 7.5s. I would only take the red shells if I was leaving my area and expect quail. Not likely to see a quail right here, if I did, he wouldn't need me shooting at him.

    Copper Shot?

Those couldn't be much better than steel and multiple times the price. What advantage might copper provide..they won't rust?

    Copper Shot?

I have heard or the selling point of the copper-plated shot, was they stay round, they don't deform as much when hitting bones and maybe supposed to not pull as many feather through with them into the meat. Not sure about the feathers, but I can understand how the other could be true. I just...
