Old habits die hard. I refuse to carry my phone when hunting and usually fishing. Maybe not smart and my hunting partner gets ticked sometimes when we get separated but I just can't abide the intrusion while pursuing game. I have taken it in the deer stand but make damn sure the ringer is off.

I had a wolf stalk us Grouse hunting once. Seeing that thing watching us from cover made my hair stand. I healed my dog to the truck and hunted elsewhere. NW Wisconsin.

Stop hunting with repeat offender? I know that can be difficult with established groups but if he's that bad you may have to. I've done it before.

My last Golden was named Goose. She was a good dog and good enough hunter. I don't recall how we came up with that name and no it wasn't from Top Gun. My current Golden is Stella. Wife and I agreed to it for no particular reason. Shes two and coming on strong. We will be hunting Iowa again...

Good advice. I was just telling my wife those roads would probably not be frozen enough for travel this weekend.

Most are gravel. The ones that aren't are few and obvious.

I think ic with steal compares to mod with lead. Probably oversimplified but that's been my observation. I just use ic with everything now. I don't shoot at birds past that range. I've lost enough birds dropped way out. Now I prefer to knock the shit out of them and find them where they fall.

Can't believe I missed this post. Opener was warm and wet. I hunted very little and got nothing. However I have gotten 8 since then. With pheasant season coming on I'll be lucky to get out after them again this year but might get in a late season hunt.

I'm sure I'll be hunting Grouse longer than pheasants. Hobbling down a two track is far easier than fields and ditches.

I'm trying it but I'm concerned about it leaking. Some reviews mention that and a lot of reviews mention that for the similar Kong version. Seems cool and I will order as gifts for friends if it works well. Thanks.

My hunting friends communicate whether it be pheasant identification or location when we can't see each other in the Grouse thickets. Somehow we still consistently get birds.

A tick got under my shirt this weekend and bit me 6 times while sleeping. Never found its sweet spot and drilled in but I got 6 welts to show for it.

All individual dogs are different regardless of breed. Mine is what she is. Ours is part of the family and I don't dislike her. She's a good girl but not what others have experienced with the breed. My other dogs have all varied in intelligence, just like people.
