    warm weather!!

I opted to skip this week due to the heat.... It's on come Tuesday!! Honestly, my gsp s are very well conditioned to the heat. Although, they will drink my 3 gal. water thermos dry everytime running bobs in our Texas heat . 🤣 I'll fill it every chance I can when I'm around a windmill. With...

    It’s not just hunters.

Good for you McFarmer-You did the right thing! I'm dissapointed with the way the game warden handled it...I promise you that treestand isn't going away on it's own!! the hunter wouldve been back. Meanwhile , the pheasant culprits were present and in the act!

    warm weather!!

I was going to head up to SD this week...till I looked at the weather. Mid 70's! are you kidding me?! :poop: I guess I'll wait another week🤣- got some weather coming in next week. Fingers crossed it isn't too much snow... I can't imagine these birds are holding very well in 70 degree weather....

    Hunting in rain?

I've done it...I'm sure I'll do it again. Won't do it in a downpour of course, but I won't stop hunting if it starts drizzling. How cold and windy can be a factor too-nothing worse than being miserable cold AND wet!

    Pheasant wings for training

the only time ive collected wings is when I knew I was getting a pup in the near future or a friend was getting one. I really only use them when a pup is 2-3 months of age. Once obedience work is done and we start doing field work-they don't see a wing anymore.

    A Day in the Field

Sounds like a great adventure-this is the thing I love the most about hunting upland birds with a dog! Sometimes you really don't know where you'll end up conducting or finishing your hunt! This always seems to happen when you follow up/pursue a bird that "got away" before you could actually...

What are your plans this year?

we just don't have the birds around home this year(again) . This means i'll be doing all out of state this year. We had a great start in ND. I'll be going to SD a couple of times but most of my hunting will be in Ks this season.

Every time! I put paws right up there with eyes especially in cactus country or heavy stubble.

    Bird cleaning in Mitchell

I try to age them a little. Unless I bust one pretty hard, I’ll leave them intact and refrigerate them for 4 or 5 days when I get home before plucking/ cleaning them.

    Sharpies and Huns

My brother and I left the Texas heat to run our dogs in ND last Monday. It’s a long ride from the Texas hill country to the north west corner of ND. The dogs were “losing their minds” by the time we got into ND. I decided to take the edge off the dogs and give us a chance to stretch our legs-we...
