Looking for a new hunting vehicle

After 3 Suburbans I switched to a smaller Chevy Colorado. Benefits and drawbacks to both. My Colorado is easier to navigate on narrow trails and roads and a lot easier to turn around. It also has front and rear locking differential and higher clearance. Colorado with diesel gets about 24 mpg on...

    Late 1950s Sweet 16

Break free CLP is hard to beat IMO. I also keep some Balistol laying around but I think the CLP is better.

    ISO dog boot recommendations

I got my boots in. I ordered XS for my small female GSP and small for my male Vizsla. Tried both on and it looks like I ordered the right sizes. My dogs have never worn boots and both were a little OCD about having a boot on but it's a start.

    Late 1950s Sweet 16

My brother has an old Sweet 16 with blonde wood and a poly choke. I think he paid about $200 for it. Poly chokes reduced the value for resale but he never cared. It was his primary bird gun for years.

    Late 1950s Sweet 16

I've hunted with 12,16 and 20 gauge A5's and never had a single one jam that I can remember but there could be a lot of things that cause it, including the ammo. I've never had my Benelli's jam either....knock on wood.

    Late 1950s Sweet 16

My A5 was made in 1955 and First year for the sweet model was 1937. My A5 16 gauge was made in 1955. It isn't a sweet 16 model but it the nicest A5 I have ever picked up. It feels like a Sweet 16 but isn't. I got it in mint condition from Cabela's. At the time, it was a little over priced but...

    Aberdeen area

So has the BW and every other hotel in town. I just booked a room and thankfully remembered I had points available. Got 4 nights for free or I likely would have waited until the prices dropped.

I would take her and let her hunt smaller fields and have fun. None of us are what we used to be.

    Knee Surgery Question

I blew out my left knee in 1975. Had some bone chips cleaned out in 1995 but nothing since then. They took everything out back then, so I have bone on bone. I have bad knee days and bad knee weeks but I can go for long term periods without any knee pain. I went for a walk this morning on the...

    Knee Surgery Question

A friend of mine had a knee replacement. Horrible pain after surgery. They figured out that the glue they used dissolved and they had to redo the entire replacement. The rods were moving in his leg. Evidently, that was not an uncommon issue with a specific brand of glue. Second is better than...

    Wet Crispi Boots

I've taken my dogs out to go the bathroom on some early mornings and the howling wind in SD convinced me to simply go back to bed.

    Quick clot gauze-what brand?

I want to get some quick clot gauze for my first aid kit. Several brands on Amazon but I have no idea if there is a difference in quality. Prices are all similar. Is one brand better than another or is there a specific brand you can recommend? I've never used the stuff so I thought I would ask...

    Trailer grease

I don't have a dog trailer either. I use my trailers to haul camping equipment, bags and coolers for elk or bear hunts, birds and equipment for hunt tests, for my SxS or my lawn mower or whatever else needs to be moved. I find them pretty handy to have around. My dogs ride inside the truck...

    Trailer grease

FWIW and for no particular reason, I bought a couple brands of grease today(instead of one) Valvoline and Lucas. I'm going to use the Valvoline Extreme on my small open bed that I'll be driving up to ND in a few weeks and I'm going to use the Lucas Red & Tacky on a small enclosed trailer that I...
