Good luck with your offer. We moved from Iowa to SD in Nov. Loving it. Life's kind of in the way right now because of the move and building a new shop and home. I've hunted less this year as a resident than any of the last 10 years as a non. Keep us informed of your progress!

Im blessed with some pretty incredible private ground to hunt on, and the roosters are just as capable of kicking your a$$ on that ground also. Last time out, I walked 160 a of habitat that had only been hunted by myself one other time. I could not corral them, and I was in super stealth...

It's difficult to do both right now if you have to travel very far to hunt. Too cold to fish at first light. Days are shortest of the year. It can be done. But you better be prepared for scrambling if you want to to both in the same day.

East river deer season ended on Sunday, so the pressure on public will recede. I spent 3 days at Chamberlain, and I did not see another hunter except for those on the pay to play places..

Resurrecting an old thread to update. My wife and I are now officially South Dakota residents as we moved from Okoboji area of Iowa to Garretson.

Nice weather makes everyone happy, particularly the roosters.

Take her hunting and just follow her. She's got the nose and the skills it sounds like. Drop down a choke or two over the pointer.

Sorry to hear this.. Seemed like a great guy. Nobody gets any guarantees how long we get. I've outlived my dad by 47 years, and my mom by 46. I treasure every day I'm on this side of the grass roots.
