    2024/2025 Pheasant Hunting Videos

I know, I know.. more ditches, but it works! Also, @That1uncle1776 I guess you're not the only guy to blow a wing off this year, as you'll see in the video.. Praire Storm 5's seem to work good enough when the entire pattern connects..

    2024/2025 Pheasant Hunting Videos

Back in South Dakota once again.. likely my last trip of the year. Regardless, we're still shooting birds. Hoping I don't become "the ditch guy" but man are they producing! It's dry as hell and nearly impossible to find downed birds if they're crippled. Anyways, here's another video. There're...

What’s everyone using for non toxic shell’s? For pheasants

Bismuth 4’s seem to be the answer for me.. but on those rare occasions you empty the gun on one and it keeps flying, it’s especially painful financially.

    2024/2025 Pheasant Hunting Videos

Day 2 and 3 weren’t as kind to us.. still knocked out our limit but we definitely worked hard for it. Birds are WILD getting up 100 yards away sometimes, hard to pin them down. Two more days left and then we’re back the following week.

    2024/2025 Pheasant Hunting Videos

Day 1 in SD was a success, limited out in about 90 minutes with both dogs getting involved. Currently sitting by a Walk-In Area 90 minutes away from anywhere I’ve hunted before. Let’s see if we can get lucky 2 days in a row.

    Private land?

I think your chances of getting permission on private go up exponentially after the deer season is over.. I’d have to imagine you could get into some birds in that area on public, but who knows!

    2024/2025 Pheasant Hunting Videos

Likely my last video until we’re out in SD this coming week. Temps and winds look about perfect, can’t wait to get after it!

    Nails rubbing on toes?

Has anyone else had this issue.. seems like he broke a nail at one time and now it grows a bit funky and constantly rubs against his toe… he has a couple spots like this on his feet. Despite some licking when we’re done, it doesn’t slow him down. I’ve tried shaping the nail so it’s smooth on...

    2024/2025 Pheasant Hunting Videos

Some of Larry's best work.. If he starts to consistently retrieve the WI pheasant population might never recover.

If you want to watch some pen-raised birds die, here you go.. one more week and we're off to SD!

    SD Road Report

Yes. 100% would not hunt this area if coming from out of state. Very bad. Especially from Mitchell to Aberdeen. PM me for my OnX waypoints which you also should avoid..

    These video guys

If someone is hunting private land, and not hunting public... how on earth would that not make the public land better? Less traffic through a spot should lead to more birds, right?

    Hunting with two dogs.

I have two setters who hunt like they're two different breeds.. Marty is about 4 years old and he runs 110% every second he hunts. He'll burn the pads off his feet by day 3 or 4 in the Dakota's and if I let him he'd be 500 yards away, but man does he retrieve like a champ. Larry on the other...

    Meindel Boots

Which Danner's did you have? I don't think you can beat the Danner Grouse, but everyone's feet are different.. Also which model of the Meindel's did you end up with? If Tuff Toe can't fix the cut in my Danner's I might be in the market for some new boots.

3 objectives when taking a photo

Not sure if they’re better at having their photo taken or finding pheasants…

    Must Haves?

I bought a tiny propane grill this year, should be a game changer.

    Must Haves?

I’m always looks for ways to improve the trip.. So, for those of you who travel a ways to hunt and stay in hotels/airbnbs, outside of the essentials (gun, boots, good dogs, etc.) what are some items you bring with that have improved your trips? For me bringing a good lawn chair and vacuum...

One thing that always sticks with me

Hotel is booked for the first week of the season.. fingers crossed for cool temps and at least some crops out!

Yup, I said it, west river, and a promise to the dog

It’s all about the dogs for me.. at this point in the year my dogs have given up hope that we’ll ever hunt again. They think their purpose is to happily lay on the couch and chase the occasional squirrel in the backyard. Once the season begins the switch flips back and I’m not even allowed to...

Workout / train (humans, not dogs) for upcoming season

I lift a few times per week and play football and basketball when I can.. I'm adding 100 or so flights of stairs into the mix every few days until the season starts so that you can't hear me huffing and puffing when I record my hunts for YouTube.
