There are definitely some areas of SD that got rain at just the right time for the cover to go bonkers. I've been on a couple of CREP spots where the bluestem was above my head and I'm 6'1". Been on a few where it's the normal waist-high as well, (but plenty thick) so I guess it just depends...

Hope you'll still hang around here and offer advice. You mentioned using liner socks in a thread way back 8-10 years or so ago. I gave it a try and found it to be a real game-changer. Good luck going forward!

I agree. Very little public land around Gregory. Quite a bit more 50-60 miles east.

Yeah it's been a very warm Fall here so far. The extended forecast is showing high temps around 70 all the way out around the 27th-28th in the SE part of the state. :(

Got out and did some scouting yesterday in the SE part of the state. Drove around for about 4-5 hours. Pretty much every bean field I saw had been cut. Most of the corn still standing, but saw plenty of combines rolling. I'm sure there will be way less corn around when the regular opener gets...

Not sure about anywhere else, but the CO in ND made it clear that something like that didn't matter at all. He said that as soon as my wife was gone, her birds would be part of my possession limit and it didn't matter if they were labeled with her name, date harvested, license #, etc.

Can't say for sure about SD, but I did have a conversation with a CO in ND about it a couple of years ago. Long and short of it was that once another person leaves and his birds are still with you, they are now part of your possession limit. That was in ND, but I'm guessing that's about how it...

I agree. Got my first Boykin a little less than 4 years ago. She wasn't just my first bird dog, she was my first dog of any kind. (I'm 57 yrs old) I knew nothing about training a bird dog (still don't) but I did know how to go hunting, a lot. So that's what we did, and she and I both learned...

I saw the same thing in Kansas a few years ago. It was a WIHA spot and someone had taken the white signs off the posts.

I'm on my 4th season of Garmin Alpha 10 and TT15 mini and I'm very happy with both. Added a new pup this year, so I got a TT25 and like it so far.

I hunted in SD last weekend, was restricted to the first 2-3 hours of the day due to high temps. Saw decent numbers of birds, but I don't have anything to compare it to because it's my first year going after sharpies and prairie chickens in SD. (Hunted sharpies and huns in ND the past 5 years)...

I saw a WIA in SD that looked exactly like that about 3 weeks ago. SE part of the state. :( No way I'd let my dogs anywhere near that.
