How many of you let birds go?

Once again I can not unsee a scenario you have presented. The picture involves shorts, black socks, sandals and a white T-shirt along with a PBR in hand.

Goose good to have you back with your truly interesting insights. I was afraid you had a ski boat accident showing Benelli Banger around and the world would have experienced a great lose in wisdom.

Do you carry a dog first aid kit while hunting and if so what should be in one

It’s a 6 day ride from my house to where I pick up my travel trailer. Dogs get the same food as always only difference is when we start hunting they get more.

    Getting ready for the season

In the past no as long as you follow the rules. Once I copied the wrong serial number down and had the vehicle searched. There’s forms that you need to fill out, sign in their presence going into Canada and a small fee. It pays to pick the right border crossing. With the changing economic...

I allow 6 days to drive from my house to the trailer, more if weather is bad.a couple years ago it took 11. Since I cross the border twice with changing...

    Fall speculation

To the nitty gritty. Back when I was a working stiff I had to schedule my fall hunts in July, now I’m way more flexible. So what is the general thoughts. I know I used to look at SD roadside counts, but even those when they happened were too late to get motel rooms. So I look at the drought...

RE: How do you get your dogs in shape, does walking behind a truck or 4 wheeler cause problems?

Well people are concerned about wolves and brown bears but gators and snakes scare the chit out of me. I’ll take furry predators any day over gators and snakes.

RE: How do you get your dogs in shape, does walking behind a truck or 4 wheeler cause problems?

Dogs get retriever practice in pond, hard swimming. Younger dogs do agility. There are agility classes and trials all over now, easy to find one. Also good for me and I am 73.

    2025 e collar/tracking

Thanks his review was great. It seems most people run Garmins. I got a Garmin LTE and tried it but it was a PIA to use and never seemed to work right. My sportdog collars have been going forever, just change out batteries. I just need something to find a lost dog who can’t hear. The TEK 1.5...

re: Anyone here have knowlege of camping in Froid Montana in October?

Great state park just east of there. Brush lake, probably won’t be many there as it is on the top of a bald hill and you have to nail everything down.

How many of you let birds go?

If it is a poor year in the area I’m hunting and it cackles when it gets up I pull the trigger. If it is a good year where I’m hunting and it doesn’t have a long tail I pass. If I have already killed a lot of birds I shoulder the gun and say “bang” afterwards praising the dog. If I can’t hit...

    Great article

Worth picking up a copy at a grocery store. I’ve had Goldens for 50 plus years and I learned a few things.

    Great article

That’s weird. There’s a Golden on the cover and the article is on page 52. I just got it this week.

    Great article

There is a great article in the last issue of Shooting Sportsman about Goldens. Very inclusive from history to temperament and health issues. For those of us that run Goldens it is an excellent read.

    Gun dog hearing loss prevention?

Every one of my goldens has suffered from hearing loss. My 16 year old can barely hear a gunshot. My 12 year old can only hear a whistle if i blow till I’m red in the face. Wish it was different.
