South Dakota Pheasant Hunting Is Changing, Or Has Changed

The observation raised by the op of this thread is not that surprising. I grew up in Michigan. Lived there most of my life. Firearm deer season in Michigan used to see 750,000 hunters participating. It has dropped to about 550,000 in recent years. A somewhat related observation: Most towns...

    Trigger guard opening.

I know that I have posted this before but the best cold weather hack I learned is to tape hand warmers or adhesive toe warmers to the inside of my wrists where the blood vessels are near the surface. Then thin or fingerless gloves are very effective.

    Danged feet.

This post has me thinking. Several years ago I coached HS football. The head coach told the players at the beginning of the season to always wear 2 pair of socks. His theory was that 2 pair of socks allowed them to slide past each other as one moved to help eliminate callouses and sore spots...

    Danged feet.

About 9 years ago, I suffered greatly from plantar fascitis. Finally had a podiatrist recommend these very affordable orthotics. https://www.amazon.com/Inserts-Relieve-Plantar-FasciitisInsoles-Supports/dp/B0C7VT3Z77 I replace the factory inserts in my hunting boots and most of my shoes with them.

Can you open up the chamber of a 2 3/4" shotgun to shoot 3" shells?

It is probably more complicated than a simple SxS or over/under for two reasons. 1. The receiver must allow for the ejection of a longer hull. 2. Many Beretta's have chrome lined chambers and barrels. A special ream may be required.

I am betting at 6:00 or 10:00 you can easily find a spot on public land.

    Iowa public opener

Serious question, why would you look for a spot to hunt, at 8:00 on opening morning on public land? Two hours either side of 8:00 is when you can find a place to hunt on public land on opening day.

    Full Blaze Orange Reminders

These early, late, and youth seasons are implemented to provide access and to fulfill wildlife management goals. If you are upset that the youth waterfowl, early goose, and early teal seasons impact your personal access to waterfowl, the simple solution is to participate in those seasons. If...

    Full Blaze Orange Reminders

I am curious. What is the expense that you reference here? The hunts that you refer to are not about a single demographic. I have taken many children out during the youth waterfowl and deer hunts when I lived in Michigan. They were some of the most enjoyable times that I spent in the field...

    Transporting birds for others

I am betting if you have your own possession limit and someone else's possession limit, you are in violation. Even is someone gifted them to you with a note. Otherwise, what's to keep someone from shooting several limits and gifting them to himself...with a note?
