Looking for a new hunting vehicle

I had a 69. It had whatever Dodge's V8 4 barrel was at the time. 383?? Anyway, it was the biggest gas guzzler I've ever owned. I couldn't afford to drive it and gas was a buck something then!

Looking for a new hunting vehicle

That's awesome. My daughter ask me a couple years ago if I wanted to buy her low miles early 2000's Taho. I'm still kicking myself for not buying it. Size wise about perfect for two guys and 2-4 dogs.

    A little humor for you

The inertial price is nothing when you start adding up the vet bills. Those dam flea/tick/heartworm stuff alone will break you up.

    Recovery Powder

That's funny. I was just thinking that the game warden might have questions if he sees white powder spilled in the truck. Whatever you do L.C. don't get any on your nose!!

    Wanted: Semi auto 16 gauge

 I Agree with zeb. The only reason they didn't make a 3'' 16 is because it would have made the 2.75 12 obsolete! To late zeb I'm afraid you already did.;)

How many birds do you shoot in a season?

Totally agree. I think sometimes your born with it or learn it by example. Other times it comes from age. And some never acquire it.

    Wanted: Semi auto 16 gauge

Get on gunbroker and look for Remington 11-48's or 11-58's. I think we discussed this not long ago on another thread. There is a very nice 1148 with a polychoke on there now. People po po the polychokes but believe me they work pretty danged well. I've been outshot by one before and the best...

How far do you let your dogs go?

Probably but, I have witnessed dogs' reason. A brilliant beagle my dad had in the seventies. And one of the dogs that would often break out and circle pheasants. We once hunted him in a place we had hunted many times. Probably a mile of unproductive ground with ditch lines and wood edges before...

How far do you let your dogs go?

Yeah, that's probably closer than actually reasoning to get around them. Although I never underestimate them.

The darkest opening morning of the season

That Gus is a pretty good-looking dog. Local breeder? Crops out yet up there?

How far do you let your dogs go?

Not that this is common either, but I have seen a couple big running dogs that would track for a while, then if you would be fairly close to an edge, they would pull out and run hard down the edge. Sometimes for a long way. Then cut in and hunt back to you. Sometimes it worked like a charm...

I haven't tried my Meindl's yet. they are 400 gran insulation. I'll try using the insoles in my other boots today.

    Danged feet.

I've been trying to get in shape for a while. Working out, walking. Lost some weight and feeling pretty good. My problem is, no matter what boots I wear, my feet hurt after about 5 miles. What's the best insoles? I remember reading a thread about it but can't find it.

How far do you let your dogs go?

Which brings up another point. I see a lot of guys saying they keep them within a certain range. How? With the shock collar or by screaming all the time? Believe me I spent years doing both! If you use the shock collar, you'd better have a bold dog that can take it. A lot of dogs will associate...
