Beretta 12ga silver pigeon field with 26 or 28" barrels

I prefer longer barrels. Been using my 28 gauge this week in SD with 32” barrels. My 16 gauge Rizzini has 29”. Some is personal opinion. Some guys like 26” but for me they seem too whippy. Had a 20 gauge I moved along to someone new as I just couldn’t shoot it. Good luck.

Do we need to get away from plastic ?

Hunting with an O/U makes shell retrieval very easy. I would say on a normal year I don’t leave a single hull in the field.

    Game Preserve Hunt

Love to hear a story like yours. No one is ever gonna say preserve birds are the same as wild but they sure as hell beat no birds!! I’ve quail hunted in Georgia with the dog set up you describe. I’ve not seen it in the wild per se but sure there are some that do. Hope you get back out again...

    Corn progress in SD

Got a pic this morning of heavy frost so for anything not turning yet it will here soon. Talked to a farmer 2 days ago. 3-4 more days of beans and then will roll in to corn he figured. Agree that the next 2 weeks will see more corn shelled across a larger swath of the state. Can’t wait to get there.

    Sportdog vs garmin

Never used Sport Dog but have been very happy with my Garmin Pro 550. Run flushers so the GPS is mostly just ncase somehow we get separated and needed to locate them. Adds a lot of peace of mind.

    New NW Iowa Pheasant Hunter

Welcome to the site. Great to see a younger new hunter wanting to learn about something we all love. Take these guys up on any offer you can make work to help speed up the learning curve. Keep us posted on how it goes. I remember my first bird shot behind beagles while rabbit hunting.

    RX Shooting glasses?

Lots of good shooting glasses out there and can spend a ton Of money. I went with X Sight a few years ago and for the cost I am happy. The RX can be switched to various colors. I find on sunny days the brown works well. All other days yellow works fine. Don’t recommend the purple. Tried them and...

    Harvest already starting

We chopped silage this past week but a neighbor is combining corn. He plants short date corn early so he can say he was first to harvest every year. The rest of the are is 7-10 days from beans being ready and 3 weeks or so from corn. This is in Ohio.
