Some things to consider are how far away the marks are, how heavy the cover is and which way the wind is blowing. Also, where is the mark being thrown from and how do you get the dog’s attention to look that way? Further is harder, heavy cover is harder, being up wind of the mark is harder...

I’m no pro trainer but I believe that Orange bumpers are usually used on blind retrieves. Dogs have a hard time seeing orange. Black are easier for the dog to see in some conditions and likewise White are easier to see in other conditions-especially when you are working on longer distances.

Yeah…you need to know which eye is dominant. Could be either. I’ll make an open triangle with both hands touching at arms length and both eyes open to start. Pick something in the distance like a door knob that you can see through the triangle, with both eyes open. Close one eye at a time...

Hunt harder to me might mean going over some areas where you’ve already been. Go back to them. Maybe you walked by a bird? If you walked the edges , try the middle too, and visa versa.
