    Full Blaze Orange Reminders

I used to put a road crew type orange and reflective strips thing over my regular vest when bird hunting during deer firearm season. Real pain. It is hard to find a "regular" vest that has the pockets the way I like them and large enough for all the junk I carry. Last year I switched over to...

    Full Blaze Orange Reminders

Total guess here... It probably depends on the person what they are going to do if you are wearing a vest with a lot of brown/gray. But if they want to confirm it, I am guessing they would use a tape measure. If it is camo, that would be tougher. But for most vests that have square sections...

    Full Blaze Orange Reminders

If that's in reference to the 50% orange per square foot, it isn't averaged over the entire surface of the clothing. Every square foot has to have that percentage.

    Full Blaze Orange Reminders

Where *most* people hunt pheasants (down in the fields of South/SW MN, rather than more woodland areas of the state), it is easy to avoid hunting by deer hunters the same way you avoid hunting by other bird hunters. If someone is at the parking spot, move on. The deer hunters will often be...

    Full Blaze Orange Reminders

Reminder that this thread is about Minnesota requirements. ;)

    The dog caught a pheasant

I've had it happen occasionally without it being a cripple or flare nare. Roosters under crusty snow better watch out.

    Full Blaze Orange Reminders

Also a reminder on the amount of orange. It has to be 50% orange/pink in any square foot of material. A lot of bird hunting vests aren't compliant with this.

Either they were hunting preserves, or staying in SD, yet hunting in MN. SD season isn't open for non-residents until this weekend. My money is on preserves.

Looks like an allergic reaction to me.

    Damned Quill PIgs

Honey got a big possum in SW MN on Sunday. That thing stunk baaaaad! I knew she was pointing at a non bird due to her tail being out behind her. Thought it was a racoon. Even though she loves to fight racoons, I can usually call her off. Not this time. She dove in. No snarling?? My...

That's the problem. Have to hunt all day just to catch a wiff of rooster toots. All those public areas are for song birds. I agree with @That1uncle1776 -- best bet is to head to Iowa. They have oodles of roosters down there. Easy pickin's.

He's a self professed liar. Don't believe him. Keep going to SD. No birds here in Minnesota. ;)

    2025 season reports

Only had time to hit 3 spots in the final 4.5 hours of the day today, with a little over 3 hours actually hunting. 1st spot: 10 hens and 2 roosters that Honey found, but flushed out of range without me being close enough or brush in the way. Burned 2 hours there. 2nd spot: Took 50 minutes to...

Where I was, it started orange and then turned more red like your photo. Very nice sunset.

Yes, open reflex type of red dot. Not magnified. I haven't come across anyone using one in person. I've seen some on YouTube using them in the UK. i added it part way through last season. The reason is my current primary gun doesn't fit me great and results in inconsistent mounts. The...

First few roosters for Honey this season. First bird on the second day was a cripple she pointed and chased down.

    2025 season reports

Got out later than planned on Saturday (meaning not at a spot an hour+ before shooting time), and paid for it. All the spots had hunters. Most of them had groups. I think it was the most large groups I've ever seen on a single day -- 10 people, 8 dogs types of groups. Drove around until 10...
