Marlin model 90 gets it done

Same here. I have another one, also in 16 ga, and its not quite a nice. The finish is beat up and the action and safety selector seem like they need to be cleaned up. But it functions.

Marlin model 90 gets it done

Not sure. I know they were produced for Sears as the Ranger. Not sure if there is any difference an any of the models.

    A5 sweet 16!

Got to revive this thread a little. Took my A5 Sweet 16 to SD last week for my first hunt with it. It was flawless and a great gun for those walks. Great shotgun so far. Can’t wait to get it in some more action.

Just back from SD. Took my 16 ga Marlin model 90 and it did not disappoint. What a great shotgun and a great time in SD.

    Late 1950s Sweet 16

Balistol, CLP, Transmission fluid all work for me. I used transmission fluid or CLP in the Army. I’ve used Balistol but prefer others.

    Shooting style

I see the bead in my peripheral vision. I think. When all is going well, I’m not sure I see it or if I’m just aware of it. I prefer a small metal bead and if I have a fiber optic, I want it to be a Tom Knapp style one. The orginal bead was missing from my Benelli Legacy and one of my 48...

    Colorado Sage Grouse

Jealous Arkansan here. We just don’t have birds other than ducks and doves anymore. I miss it. I would love to experience that hunt in the future.

    Montefeltro or Ethos ?

You have to be careful about easing the bolt down. If I ease the bolt down on my Legacy, like I would when I get out of a truck close to a good shooting spot, the bolt doesn’t rotate correctly and you’ll get a click. I have to ease the bolt almost all the way down and then drop it. It makes a...

So true. I’ve traveled down that rabbit hole quite a bit as well.

    Small game knives

That Kershaw is nice. I have a couple of the AG Russell WoodsWalkers that are a great cheap knife. I have a couple of customs that are just phenomenal. A boning knife by Jeff Oelke, Michael Miller, and anything by Lucas Forge.

Franchi 48 AL front sight bead?

I want to restore it to its factory condition and get rid of the big fiber optic bead someone put on it. Its a nice shotgun and deserves to be intact. I want the bead. I ordered one from Numrich. I don’t need it for shooting but it won’t hurt anything either.

Franchi 48 AL front sight bead?

I recently bought a Franchi 48 AL Deluxe 28 ga. It came with an aftermarket front sight. It screws into the rib where the original front sight bead would be. I’ve emailed Franchi to find out what I need to get a new front sight bead and haven’t heard back. Anyone have any idea what the...

    Looking for a new double

Lots of good O/U out there. An older Charles Daly by Miroku is basically the same as a Citori. Beretta, Ruger, or an old Marlin 90. SxS: too many to mention. Either way it depends on your budget.

I’ve been looking at some of these. I’m getting the itch for more side x sides.

Thinking about a new gun, suggestions?

No experience with the Stoeger but the first shotgun I used for pheasant was a 48 AL in 20 gauge. Love that gun. It has a 2 3/4” chamber so if you are looking for a 3” chamber it won’t work for you.
