    4600 acres- S Texas/Zapata/Hebbronville area Quail

Let us know if you get a taker and what amount you collect. You might try to find a forum devoted to quail to promote the 20K weekend to. Heck of a first post. I would say welcome, but I have a feeling you will not really be here. Should be in the classified section, but this doesn't fit...

    Really Late Hatch Birds?

I saw a hen on the the edge of a county black top yesterday, she had at least 2 chicks with her that I saw. Those chicks weren't much bigger than sparrows. I think they will be very lucky to make it through this winter as will that hen.

    PLEASE... I'm dying here!

Isn't this one about the worst! I won't answer a call while hunting.

    PLEASE... I'm dying here!

Great to "hear"....my hearing is fading. I have never worn the earing protection while hunting, that could have something to do with it. Growing up on a farm with loud tractors, running a grinder/mixer, loud stereos as a youngster and inadvertent gun fire exposed has played a big role in this...

    How fast conditions change.

Thanks guys. That farm is my happy place. With amount of rain we have received, the cover is even thicker & taller than normal. The gator had a time pushing through in places as I drove thru to check on the food plots. I flushed just one hen yesterday, goes to show they would rather run than...

    How fast conditions change.

Here are pics I took today of some of the food plots. One plot has a bit of the first planting of corn. The 2-4D took care of the broadleafs, but bunches of foxtail. Not a super stand of sorghum, some places better that others.

what areas do you look for on the map when deciding to hunt upland birds

Not sure about maps, but do some reading and figure out an area with potential. You want to find private ground opportunities, to avoid those all day hunts where fellas walk all day to try to get a limit. Spend a day or weekend in the area you want to hunt and meet some of the locals. Stop in...

This is such a turn around, the from the last 4 years, another 1.85" last night. I might have to wear those rubber Muck boots hunting.

    How fast conditions change.

Another almost .5" Friday and Sat morning. All this rain is not the normal over the past 5 years. I watered the garden twice early on in a dry 3 week period. Since then, the top is usually moist. The sweet corn did good, gave away the last 12 dozen or so ears this morning.

Pheasant Fact Friday - PF FB Repost

I didn't know the value of foxtail until I read this, my food plots might be more productive than I imagined!

    How fast conditions change.

Just got 1.1" and it is still coming. I am thinking our pheasants will evolve into ducks if this keeps coming! ***Edit. 1.3" last evening, this is crazy. Should be dry tonight, need to get mowing grass!

    SE Iowa

I think most, if not all the state, has received adequate rain this year, so the IHAP (public access CRP) should be good this year. With the recent drought conditions much of this has been hayed in past years.
