    11/18-11/21 Report-SE SD

Definitely getting tougher out there the last 10 days. Fields that were producing limits in 45-60 minutes are now hen only or roosters flushing wild. Its another reason I love this bird. Its almost like three different seasons with open thanksgiving until snowfall being the most challenging on...

    Commodity prices…

While this is true most still made decent money this year. Last year many made close to record profits. If the interest gets any higher there will be some hardships going forward. Land prices are still near record highs and unreachable to 99% so maybe a reset is due? FYI, my family farms in MN...

    Wind!!!!!

Tough weekend for me with the birds. I thought Saturday would be a give me with the trace of snow but my son and I settled for four birds. I did have a misfire off a point and missed one other easy shot but that was about it. Roosters are getting thinned out and definitely educated but Monday...

Curious if you ever found any evidence of the plague or any other diseases to worry a hunter?

Thank god I have a great wife!

Back to work tomorrow for me. I've been off since the last week of October. I only missed one day of hunting as we drove to Mobridge area for a deer hunt. The bird numbers have been excellent if a little spotty but the weather has been near perfect. Makes me dream of retiring but dont want to...

First South Dakota trip was a blast

Just got back from deer hunting W of Mobridge and couldnt believe how many PDs there were on public ground. All you rifle nuts should keep it in mind if looking to burn up some ammo.

Ear protection ideas from seeds etc…?

Seems dogs are wearing more "stuff" every year. Skid plates, Neoprene, Googles, now ear protection? Get a good quality bred hunting, working line dog and go hunt. I know people spending big money on anxiety drugs and riddlen for dogs now a days and then talk about breeding them because it found...

    Early season thoughts

So far its been a great year. I've hunted almost every day of the season so far and have been pleasantly surprised at the numbers considering this past winter. I've also been very surprised at the number of hunters out there. Glad to see so many guys out there but definitely most guys I've seen...

    Hunting Unharvested Corn or Soybeans

I would not hunt unharvested crops on CREP or WIA regardless of rules. These two options are private land leased by the state. Food plots on GPAs are open game and make for some great late season hunting.

what is going on in SD.

Beans are essentially done and corn is getting a fair start. I would say harvest is ahead of average and farmers are getting after the corn again after rain delay from last week. I believe corn is still a little wet in a few places and mother nature is cheaper than propane. I hunted the resident...

    2023 Resident Opener

Ive seen this several times first weekend or two of season and know its part of the game with limited space, I usually try to make contact and workout a acceptable plan but otherwise let them get in front and hunt all the birds they race past.

    Rogers toughman upland vest

Ill bite. I too bought the final rise and while I do think it is quality equipment i do have a couple complaints. First off its hard to get the birds into without taking it off and its hard to get the water bottles in and out of. I know its the latest and greatest piece out there right now but...

    Boots

Interesting. I just bought another pair of danners after looking at both the crispis and kenns for a couple months. I have no problem spending the $ if theyd last more than a year but doubted they would. I think I may have to try.

    Emergency Haying in SD

I seen a field by Alexandria hayed yesterday. A field just put in to crp three years ago. On a positive the Ft Pierre grasslands look great and theres more sharpies than the last couple years Id guess.
