    Central North Dakota Sharptail Outlook

I'm in MN on a work assignment and this past Saturday I had go drive up into central ND and back. Didn't see any birds, but I was on paved roads the whole time, and most of the driving was done mid-day, so that's no surprise. But the countryside definitely looked lush and green, lots of water...

    Birds Around Rugby?

I've only hunted ND the past 3 seasons, so I'm no expert on ND. But my guess is that there are probably decent to good numbers of sharptails around Rugby, but marginal for huns and phez. If you went an hour or so NW, W, or SW you'd be in better territory. ND game & fish website has range maps...

    Huns?

I saw a pair of huns in the SE part of the state last year in july or aug. Those were the first ones I've ever seen in SD and I've been taking 2-3 trips each season since 2015. Like Dakotazeb said, if you want huns, western ND or MT is the place to go.

    Prairie grouse trip

You won't regret taking a trip for prairie birds, just do it. Hunted quail and pheasant since I was a kid (55 now), and took my first trip to ND for sharptails and huns in '20. Had a great trip, went back in '21 and '22, and it's gotten better each time. Pheasant will always be my favorite...

Rain in some of pheasant country…🙏🏻🤞

Here's what I use: https://water.weather.gov/precip/ I spend a ton of time between about May and Sept looking over various areas in the 5 states that I hunt. Incredibly helpful tool.

    From the Aberdeen coaltion

"The winter didn't harm the pheasant population a bit" A statement like that makes it very hard to take that blog/press release serious. I'm sure some areas were hit harder than others. If the spring nesting conditions are good, a successful hatch would help make up for the winter losses...

I really like B & P ammo, particularly the nickel-plated Upland Game loads in 12 ga and 28 ga.

    E Collar

Welcome to the forum. I got my first dog about a year ago, a Boykin Spaniel. This is her first season, and I'm using the Garmin Alpha 10, with the TT15 Mini collar. I've used it quite a bit so far this season- hunted ND for two weeks in Sept, a week in SD in Nov, plus a couple of days in KS on...

    Best Steakhouse in SD?

Chef Louie's in Mitchell was great, but as BB mentioned, it's gone. And by gone, I mean literally gone. The building has been demolished and that whole corner lot is completely empty now. Looks really strange. Sad to see it go. I had been to Cattleman's in Mitchell twice several years ago and...
