At what point do you retire your dog?

JonnyB, Thank goodness u still have the drive to do so. I hope that I will be alive at 85 and can still hunt. You are a lucky man.

I agree. Typically when my dogs get older I try and hunt them an hour or two when it is cool. Works out for them. They get to hunt a little and be part of the hunt. It has worked out for several dogs over the years. I treat my dogs very well. Great food, vitamins, glucosamine, etc.

At what point do you retire your dog?

I have a Brittany that will be 13 this November. She is in excellent shape for her age. She is lean, etc. We start running hopefully in a week or so to get into shape for the season. It has been way too hot here to get her ready. She still has a great nose. Hopefully she can hunt this year...

Yes, but you are in one of prettiest areas in the Country. Gunnison is a great little town if half of California is not there now.

    Hunting with a brittany dog

Yes, Hope your season is a good one also. I used to have a French Brittany that was fantastic on Grouse. I always had to have her wear at least one check cord to slow her down. It took her about 30 minutes to get her in the right range. Then it was game on...

    Hunting with a brittany dog

Me too. I have run Britts since the 70's. If had a Brit that ran that big, he or she would be wearing a check cord to slow them down.

Wow, My experience most wild birds will not hold long enough to get a shot after walking a half mile to a point.

Black, These trailers are extremely well built, and make a great platform for camping. If you want some great insight on what to build look up Expedition Port. Great site. My camper is a 3 season camper.

I will see if I have more photos. If I remember the M-100 is a real big trailer vs M 416, CDN 101. I has 3 Dog Trailer Tents make me a custom tent for my trailer. It has a nice queen bed, with a 7' x 7' vestibule at ground level. Setup takes 2 minutes. Ko2 tires, door at rear, extended...

I'm repairing and insulating floor with closed cell foam board. I will have R20 in bed area, and R-15 elsewhere. Putting a lift on her and getting 16" wheels with 10 ply tires.

Brown, Another tip. Get a 1" foam board and put it in bed of truck. Sleeping stuff over it. Huge difference.

Brown, Tip. I used to sleep in my Cruiser. I found out if you will put a tarp over your topper you will be much warmer...Heat radiates back to you.
