    New E-collar needed

I don’t think you can go wrong with either garmin / tritronics or dogtra. I’ve been using tritronics and now garmin since the 80’s- has never let me down.

    Waiting is . . .

I hear ya Britt man!! I got the shakes pretty bad. We spent 3 days in ND chasing sharps and the dogs put up prolly 50, 60 pheasant. October can’t come fast enough!

    Grouse And Hun Opener

I’m finally home- ND was amazing as always! I look forward to being on the prairie in September. We didn’t hunt the last morning - it was raining pretty good! We had two coveys of huns located ( 2 separate properties)the afternoon before. It didn’t matter- my brother and I were grateful and...

    Grouse And Hun Opener

We had a good day today- we hit our 1st and only field at about 8:30 am. Killed our limits of sharpies and were back in town eating lunch by 11am. The dogs put up prolly 30 birds in an hour. We spent the afternoon driving around ( 89 degrees this afternoon)looking for areas to hunt huns on our...

    Grouse And Hun Opener

A lot of rain, kind of screwed up some of our 1 st half day today. Sharpies were in family groups but were running and flying out of range- it was wet and muddy. We decided to push north and west another several hours to get out of the rain and hunt new territory for the evening- got into some...

    Crop progress

Drove through SD early this morning en route to ND for sharps and huns. Most soybeans I’ve ever seen in SD. Seriously think there is as much soybeans as corn if not more. I guess a lot of corn already harvested / bailed due to its condition. Saw 3 pheasants total driving the corridor from...

Uninsulated Danner Pronghorns For Early Season...

Good thread- I’ve been prospecting between danners and Irish setters for my next pair. I’m still wearing my old kangaroo leather brownings but honestly don’t think they have a whole lot left in them.

    Versatile Game Vest

The water storage part is prolly the most fustrating part of a vest for me these days. If you just run one dog, I don't think its that big a deal. 2 at a time for several miles during early season -now it gets fustrating.

For those of you with GPS collars..

I don’t think the 550 pro has a map screen. It’s a much more streamlined approach than the 100. It point to your dogs location rather than show it’s path on a map. It has a faster process time too. I almost bought it, it’s a good system. I currently have the one under it- sport pro. Which has no...

For those of you with GPS collars..

Thanks KsHusker I’ll check that one out! I’m not really in a big hurry right now- I still have time. I’m really hoping to hear some feedback on the alpha 10- it is the next/ newest generation to the alpha 100. My brother has the 100- too big and too clicky- I have a hunch that garmin...

What trips do you have planned for this year

We haven’t had quail in Texas( north) for the last 2 yrs due to drought. I realize our stock is low but I’m hearing some reports of bird numbers(spotty) - hopefully I don’t have to travel that far (ok) if I have them near me.

    Sharpies and the drought

I just love being on the ND prairie in September. It’s a nice change from shooting doves in a 100 degree weather! I’ll find sharpies it’s the huns I’m worried about. They are a lot like our bobwhites, they will not be ok in this drought.
