    Pudelpointers

I don't know anything about this breeder. But I did look at their last 5 years of breeding. They seem to breed their females twice/year. You should ask around to some NAPPA breeders and ask them how often they do that. I have personally never liked that practice.

Here is a strange tip I heard.

Yes, everyone should hunt the cover around bean fields. Avoid corn...no birds there.

    Corner crossings

Could a landowner put, say, a 10ft or higher fence just on the last few feet of a corner, making it much more difficult for a ladder to be used? If these landowners were pissed enough take it this far in court, I wouldn't be surprised if they tried some more shenanigans.

    Field Trials? NSTRA?

Iowa trials are overfilled! Sounds like entries need to be in very early. Good to know for next time.

    Field Trials? NSTRA?

I just sent in my UKC registration for my PP. Gonna give NSTRA a try this spring. I've tested all the way through NAVHDA and want to stay busy. Probably try the Fargo and Iowa trials.

    You don't run a camera

You forgot the period after your first line. You remind me of a certain Southern boy who's mind was even slower than his drawl. Run boy, run.

    Camera

I run a GoPro 12, shoulder mount for my strap vest, and edit with Davinci Resolve. The GoPro 13 uses a new style battery, so I may look at a DJI in a year or two since my small mountain of batteries won't be compatible with the new GoPro. My channel: MissedAgain YouTube

    Here Kitty Kitty

I only compared in the sense in they are both charismatic megafauna and the public has a poor history of regulating those critters. I agree, they are very different beasts.

    Here Kitty Kitty

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for the DNR saying there is no breeding population here. If there was, could you imagine how some folks would want to protect them, like they do with the wolves?

    Here Kitty Kitty

Maybe 4-5 years ago a female was hit on 494 just south of Minneapolis. I don't buy the DNR "no breeding population" line. *Fact checking myself, that was a male. There was also one hit just a couple miles away from me on 394. If they are getting hit in the metro every couple years, I gotta...

    AZ quail

I'll be there Jan 3-26. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. I've learned a lot the past 6 years, we'll see if it helps. Honestly fewer people in the mearns hills, even without great bird numbers, will be alright with me.

    Future of CRP ?

In the overall myopic view of hunting and conservation, why wouldn't the Trump administration cut CRP? The real effects wouldn't hit until the end of his term, and he's not up for reelection anyway. And he can say he's cutting our spending. After the China tariffs, he sent cash to farmers so...

    TSS any good?

I hear ya. I had to order a cylinder choke and I use that with IC and i'm stoning birds at 40 yards with the duplex load.

    TSS any good?

I do a steel/tss duplex and my cost is $1.25 per shell...and I still hate missing! Maybe next year I'll try a few pure tss loads.

Garmin vs Sport dog Tek series

Alpha is a poor training device, but a nice hunting device. The Pro550+ is their most versative product IMHO. Never used the Sport Dog.

Semi repost: what is everyone's layering system

Windchill over 15F: non-insulated boots (Kenetrek) and midweight wool socks, synthetic long johns, ventable brush pants (Kuiu), synthetic upper base layer, lightweight long sleeve shirt, windproof light vest (orvis), light neck gaiter. Windchill under 15F: add 400g insulated boots, an extra...

    Pointing concerns

A couple things... 1) Like Labradinger said, it's been real tough scenting this year. My DD and PP are both veterans on wild birds and trained to the highest levels in NAVHDA, and they have been struggling. Especially on downded birds....it's probably the worst I've seen years. 2) Stopping...

    Pudelpointer Puppies - Minnesota

Lido failed with 191/200 points. Without getting too far into it, we had a very difficult brace mate to back...a French Britt that was maybe 16 inches tall. The one point she had in short cover he backed, but the two she had in thicker cover he never saw her and never backed. The judges scored...
