    All My Shotguns

Dad has the plain jane Dickinson Estate in 16 guage and has been his primary gun for 10 years or so now and he really likes it. They're in the $1400-$1700 range now it looks like based on my quick check on gunbroker. I remember when Cabelas first started selling them and they were $900. Like...

    All My Shotguns

Like others have said, used. New CZs are supposed to be stout, but to me shoulder about like a 2x4 from Lowe’s. I bought all three of these well under $1000 in the last 5 years. 12 gauge Simson from 60s, 6# 11oz An unmarked German 16 from 1919 likely a Sauer action with killer wood (under...

    Semi Automatic 20 Gauge Recommendations

I think there is only one bubble you're bursting on here, several others on here that have actually used the Armsman made guns that like them just fine. Same gun my boy is holding in the above picture after a cattail push last year in South Dakota with a 40 mph head wind.

    Semi Automatic 20 Gauge Recommendations

I’ve got the TriStar stamped version. I’ve killed a pile of doves and used it for a day in South Dakota last year. I like it enough I’ll likely buy a 28 gauge to play with. If it were my only shotgun, would I have bought it? Probably not. I bought it as a curiosity to go with all my others. I...

4, 5, or 6 shot for you early season pheasant hunters? And what choke are you shooting?

5’s through modified choke are 95% of my shooting. Keeps it simple.

    More pheasants than ever before!!

After the second year in a row of me going pheasant hunting with a contractor buddy of mine from work on my wedding anniversary (Kansas one year, SD the next), wife said "I don't f'ing care where you go next year on our anniversary". Turns out, that was a lie, because evidently she didn't want...

A Story Retold: Bull Calf in a Swimming Pool

I've got a Kansas bull story myself. Brother in law and I shared a herd of cows and were leasing my grandpas pasture. Pasture had a rock quarry in part of it, 40 foot side walls on 3 sides of it with a good fishing hole in the bottom. We had just bought a brand new $$$$ Beefmaster bull...

    Hunting With A Backpack

I’m same as Remy. I’ve never been more than a mile from the truck on pheasants, usually never more than a half mile. No need to carry water. Someday I’ll hunt Montana or the mountains for grouse and chukar. Someday…. I did dove hunt last year with a cheap backpack. Carried my shells, water (95...

    CZ shotgun rebates

No, have a used Ugartechea 20 that should arrive at my FFL on Thursday and later this fall plan on ordering a Rizzini BR110. Loved (past tense) CZ rifles, have a few in the safe. You should have them bring back a 550’ish rifle, but put it on a diet like a Kimber 84 and stick it in a nice chunk...

Fugly shotguns is it just me ?

Me either. I’ve built 2. One with a White Oak upper that shoots itty bitty groups. I always reach for a bolt gun though. Not sure how to explain the 10+ stripped lowers I have on the shelf. But a bargain is a bargain… It’s scientifically proven birds prefer being shot with nicely figured...

    All My Shotguns

I simply like guns. Finally had to get a second safe. Rifles in one. Shotguns in another. Both are over full with extras in corners and other rooms. Need to buy 2 more safes. I try to do the 1+ gun a year game. Sometimes I win. Sometimes I lose. Sometimes I really really win.

    Pheasant update

My wife never told me she had a sister, but it sure sounds like she does. I'm in the same boat, the money is not the issue to going on an out of state hunt. It is purely about the available time to get away.

Man, now I really want to get a 20 ordered. Double triggers. 30”. Extractors. Taratuga Gold level finishes. Think my wife would notice the deposit missing from the checking account? Share pics and thoughts after you get yours.

I just hate the look of that skip line basketweave laser cut abomination. I could live with it, but for a few hundred you can have somebody do a traditional cut checkering to fix it up right proper like.
