    How many shells?

That's like a 15 bird limit? So based on the logic of in this thread of having 3-5 times the ammo of the limit 2 boxes is just right. Hopefully that's at most 20 gauges shells for the weight.

    Preferred 20 Gauge Shell

With lead, 7/8 or 1 oz will be 2 3/4 which is typically good. A full 1 1/8 load is pretty sharp recoil for those light guns. If you happen to do steel it'll be a 3 inch just for 7/8 payload due to steels density.

    Boss shotgun ammunition

I do feel like too many people miss this point. Density is king in shotgun ballistics. it's the only thing that doesn't seem to need balancing against something else. Well, cost and maybe toxicity, but not in physics. Everything else is a balance between number of pellets, range, and recoil...

    How many shells?

And here we are talking about Federal Prairie Storm™ which means that marketing is working. I do bet they only do it for the camera and then carry a bit less.

I do appreciate that article. Tom Roster as done a ton of work looking at the exact things we are talking about. And it is nice that mass field data takes into account more than just our calculators do. Specifically how steels hardness causes much tighter groups which certainly helps to increase...

    Let's Bitch (Can't Hunt)

I'm certainly not saying you can't die from overdrinking or chronic drinking. Just comparing it to things like smoking. If you have 1 beer a day you probably won't end up ever seeing a consequence. If you smoke one cigarette a day you probably will later in life.

Now I'm imagining a hunting preserve that is just grown out football fields with the lines still painted it. If we had two teams each with shotguns, I bet a lot of people might watch...

    Let's Bitch (Can't Hunt)

The liver is an extremely resilient organ. One of (or the only) organ that can self regenerate. Which is what processes alcohol and for better or worse, means you can really abuse it without dying compared to other things.

This comes up a lot, but I still don't really know how hunters are suppose to get a grasp on appropriate range. It seems the main method is simply by shooting a lot of pheasant and seeing which does and doesn't work. It's not like big game where you can say shoot at anything under x yards by...

After some of the shell dissection's on here, I would really scrutinize the method of these types of videos. Specifically the size of shot. If two shells claim to be say #3 size but one is actually like a 2.5 or even 2, then it's clearly going to penetrate deeper regardless of the plating. But...

A sporting clay is much harder target than a bigger bird like a pheasant but I agree that even with TSS you shouldn't take actual 60 yard shots, I would say that the 60+ yard figure is more just assurance for taking going away shots that need to hit through the backbone. At 40 yards, not many...

High brass at this point is a gimmick. Todays low brass shotsells work at the same pressures rated in shotguns which means the extra brass isn't doing anything. It's all physiological that high brass means better.

It still really annoys me that they do boxes of 20 shells. The $24/box looked decent but that's really $30/box of 25. A bit expensive for steel. But I am curious to hear from people if the copper plating seems to do anything. I am glad they have a tungsten that would work well for upland. I...

    New Law

The land is federal, so you can walk in it whether you are resident or non resident. Wildlife itself belongs to the state. Hence paying them to hunt their animals.

    Giardia in Dogs

That's how I deal with it. I don't think I have ever heard of an untreated case suddenly turning bad when symptoms weren't present. My dogs drink from streams all the time, so they probably have had mild cases before. I try to only let them drinking running water, but they like to play in any...

    Pheasant Hunting

Hooking a bass or a trout on a fly rod is a ton of fun. Doesn't fully compare to a flushing bird, but it's up there in excitement. Plus you can drink a beer and call it fishing. If my dogs tolerated sitting around more I would fish a lot more. I tend to just take them out for canoe rides to let...

Lead shot ban (DFL introduced bills) opposed by MN State HS Clay Target League

Yeah I'm not for a full ban yet either. Although this is why I believe lead will be banned in my lifetime. It's constantly on the board. And while I know many will say that this is what everything is wrong with the world today. I personally think this is what progress does look like. Slow...

Lead shot ban (DFL introduced bills) opposed by MN State HS Clay Target League

Yeah that seemed like a weird spin. Banning lead to hurt a youth shoot doesn't seem like it would be very effective or even something someone would want to do. Feels very "think of the children" spin on a much bigger topic.

Yeah those collars are only done on the webupdater. I don't think there's a difference for the handheld.

I'm having a hard time visualizing that pattern because it seems way way terrible. I bet I had a denser pattern with the #4s out of a mod choke. #6 should have way more pellets. Did the bulk of it hit above or to the sides? But yeah I also never fully liked bismuth. I just feel it had too many...
