    First Bird Dog

Clunkyness, the size being 2-3X bigger than the controller I have now. And with the setup I have now I can reach down without looking and beep a dog if I need to find them. In thick cover with pointing dogs I watch those that have GPS and they're constantly looking to see what the dog is doing...

    First Bird Dog

It is a sick feeling when you can't find one for a bit. When I was young we ran bells but now the thought of all that noise makes me cringe. I don't run GPS but I do have a locate beepers if I ever need it and won't ever buy a collar without one again. I see where a GPS would be handy...

    First Bird Dog

100% on the socialize. The best dog I ever had hands down was also the biggest asshole hands down and didn't get along with other males. It makes it very hard to ever hunt with other people with a dog like that.

    First Bird Dog

Once you see the joy in a young dog being birdie and figuring things out, then slam a couple points for you, I'll bet good money you have him in a field this fall. Have fun!

    Heath Clearances?

Yeah, I guess my question stems from a dog a family member had that had hip issues at like age 3-4. Now this dog had been through a ton of training while gaining titles so I always attributed her issues to overwork. But had my family member went back to the breeder to cover her guaranteed hips...

    Heath Clearances?

I've always assumed these health guarantees would be about like getting warranty work paid for. They'll always find someway it wasn't their fault. I'm curious if anyone has ever had issues and how breeders actually handle them? Seems like a lot of variables a good lawyer would have fun with.

    Dog friendly hotel - Russell

How much did you guys get originally? Snow long gone around here, just muddy as heck.

    Dog friendly hotel - Russell

Just about anywhere will take a dog these days. There is a motel right at the Russell exit that is close to a diner that I've stayed at. I always try and negotiate on the dog fee, especially with multiple dogs. Kids leave more of a mess in a room than any dog I've ever had.

    Land prices.

It's a scary situation, watch and see what happens to this already depleted cattle herd. We're going to see record prices for the animal that is costing them a fortune to pasture and feed right now. These guys won't be able to load their trailers to head to town fast enough. When you can now...

    Land prices.

We're setting up for another 80s train wreck. There are a lot of farmers in trouble, when you have to have good to record years to break even with inputs and land prices but have going on 3 yrs now of bad crops it doesn't work. There are farms that have equipment sitting on bank property right...

NEWS FLASH: Drought ends at Ponderosa

I'm not sure they even care about the monitors or even being "approved" to graze or bale crp. They just do it. When you have zero consequences who gives a rip. It's a great model for them, get paid to let your reserve grass grow, have twice the stocking rate you should, then you when you run...

    Gobsmacked on public land!!!

My grandpa used to say "a good ass-whippin' is all some people understand, then you'll run into the rare ones that are too stupid to even learn from those."

What the KDWP Blames It On

My grandpa lived for his dogs and we had a lot of quail when I was a kid so he's at fault lol. But living in Manhattan during college and having good access to pheasant sealed the deal for this guy.

What the KDWP Blames It On

At this point I'd love to pay for a "save our sport stamp " if I thought it would actually hire marketing and compliance people to grow these programs and actually police them. I spend a hell of a lot of money, to me, traveling to find wild birds, I'd much rather spend it here.

What the KDWP Blames It On

I'd love to know if kdwp and nrcs for that matter could even tell you who is or isn't in compliance in regards to haying or grazing of crp or wiha tracts at this time of year? And if it is in a "emergency drought area " and I use quotes jokingly, if they left the percentage they're supposed to...

What the KDWP Blames It On

I'm too far east for pheasant unfortunately.

What the KDWP Blames It On

We reluctantly broke out pasture slowly over a 3 yr period because we didn't have any feed on us. I'm not sorry we did it and we left more than adequate cover in my opinion while adding food sources. It has helped tremendously with the deer and turkey, not as much as I would have hoped on the...

What the KDWP Blames It On

We farm close to 20% of the 440 acres we own or lease. The rest is rotational grazed or just left alone. The crop benefits us by income yes, but mostly to me in wildlife feed. Now I'm not what should be the target for these programs as I'm going to farm for wildlife and my dogs to have a place...

What the KDWP Blames It On

They do a shit job of promoting programs. I live on acreage and am on the books with FSA with farmed acres and I've never been approached in my life about enrolling any acres into any type of program. Never seen any type of mailer explaining program options that I can remember either. When a...
