    Shed dogs ?

My ESS’s go shed hunting with me. It depends on the year but they find 5-12 a year typically. Via smell mostly but also some visual on large ones. There have been a few I would have never found if it wasn’t for them.

    Pheasants - Cold?

For the areas of SD I frequent I am not worried. There has been cold and some snow but no major ice that will negatively impact birds IMO. I expect if we get a good spring the hatch will show some very good numbers. Lots needs to happen between now and next fall obviously but winter kill, at...

    Pointer or flusher debate

On my list to own one day. Here are some really good dogs out there.

    O/U Which Barrel?

I agree with both parts of this. Only time I’ve shot top first is with Browning and due to their barrel selector and the propensity for it to slide to the middle and hang up on me if it was selected for bottom.

    Pointer or flusher debate

I think what you are asking is almost impossible to answer. My guess would be that there are many pointers here that do really well with repositioning and staying on running birds and some that point where the bird was. I am partial to flushers since that is what I have always had. This may...

Let’s talk boots (older crowd on here)

Have never had issue with Wingshooter boots. Buddy and I each bought Meindl and not been happy with them at all. One pair returned after 9 days of hunting. Not sure what I will do when time comes for the next pair.

That is most likely the best solution but made the decision to not go down that road.

    Shooting Woes - Help Needed

I am right handed shooter with left eye dominate. Have been working hard to shoot both eyes open but in doing so I have to have my left eye partially blurred to be able to hit anything. I bought shooting glasses so I could always have the blur in the correct spot and also so the look is always...

    Beretta 686 pigeon 2

It may be pretty close to neutral. Big thing is does it fit you? When you mount it with your eyes closed and then open them is it where it should be?

    Beretta 686 pigeon 2

Great additional points. Something else I just thought of is the $2200 local is the same as finding it online for $2000 and having to pay taxes, shipping and transfer fee to get it in your hands. The other thing to keep in mind is the difference between SP I and SP II is just the engraving. SP I...

    Indian Reservation Hunting

As far as I know the one Goose is talking about allows hunting with their license. Some require you to use an Indian guide also but don’t know which do or don’t. I have never hunted on them.

    Beretta 686 pigeon 2

I would call that in the range for pricing, not a steal by any means but also you aren’t getting screwed either. By chance any extras with it like extended chokes or such that would make it a little better deal?

Welcome. Good group of people here. Towers can be different. The ones at the club I guide at I would recommend #5 with 1 1/4 oz and a full choke. Possibly XF depending on the day.

    Loosing birds

Let’s say they cost 50 cents a shell more than what you are shooting. You shoot 1.5 times on average for the 18 you lost so less than $15 total. Seems aweful cheap if that is the answer or part of the answer.
