    2022 Road side counts

Well luckily I wasn't doing any training I was just out for a walk, so I would say that is a extremely gray area. I looked up the federal site for WPA's and they are very specific on refuges and training but nothing really in regards to a normal WPA. Either way I have walked this spot for years...

    2022 Road side counts

Did a scouting trip saturday morning to the area we hunt for opener and we were shocked at the numbers we saw. Every spot we scouted we saw numerous birds and broods on the roads, needless to say we are pretty pumped for opening day. I even took a walk with the dogs this morning about 20 mins...

    Camping for upland hunting

You could easily full time in it, we use the back garage area as our girls bedroom. They have there own space and their own bathroom too. I just got my new tent yesterday, ordered the Gazelle T4 hub tent and I can honestly say I am impressed with how nice it is. Sets up in 90 seconds and comes...

    Camping for upland hunting

Here is our setup which is obviously a little large for hunting, so it stays at home. Plus a dually is a little tricky on minimum maintenance roads!

    Camping for upland hunting

It appears on top of our normal pheasant camp for MN opener this year we will be tent camping for our annual SD trip. This will be a similar camp to MN with tents and just electrical so we will have to bring water and all the other things needed. We do this trip in the middle of November so a...

    Camping for upland hunting

I have camped numerous times for hunting, we usually tent camp/bird camp for MN opener with a couple of us that all set up tents at a farm in SW MN and do it the that way. I have also camped numerous times in SD at a state park in our campers. And last year myself and a buddy slept in our trucks...

    Boss 20 GA 3" Mag 1-1/8 5 Shot

A couple of the guys I hunt with went out today and did some with their 28/20 & 16ga and they patterned 4's, 5's, 6's & 7's and the overall feeling was 5's & 6's out of a IC or LM was the best pattern. The 28ga was a A400 & Ethos and the 20ga was a Beretta 303 and A400 and the 16 was a A5.

    Boss 20 GA 3" Mag 1-1/8 5 Shot

Most of the guys I hunt with shoot boss and we range from 28ga to 12ga and everything in between and we all love the shells. We shoot, 3/5 combo's, 4's, 5's and some guys with the 12's shoot 6's and none of use have anything bad to say about the shells. Customer service is top notch and we like...

    Hearing protection

I am the same way and I get my hearing checked yearly for work. I spoke to our safety rep who does the testing and he let me in on something that I never even thought of. But he asked me if I drive with my window down and I said yes, he said well there is your hearing loss. I guess I never...

    Hearing protection

I've got a pair of custom molded sound gear and really like them. They do pick up a little wind noise and the sound of boots going through dry crp can be a bit loud but the sound suppression and amplification of voices is really nice! plus they fit amazing and I can hardly tell I am wearing...

    New strap vest

I have had a wings works vest for the last 10 years and love it, it's bulletproof! But this year at pheasant fest I pulled the trigger on a new Final Rise Summit vest and have to say I am very impressed with the quality and weight of it. Hopefully it holds up as well as my wings works!

    28 Gauge Choke

Shot IC out of my 28 all season up until the last day in Iowa when I switched to a LM due to birds flushing long.

SD in October - IC ok?

All I shot last year in MN, IA & SD was my 20 & 28, both guns will work well with IC as that's all I shoot with. I shot my 28 with IC on the last day in IA last season and had no issues with BOSS #4's and a couple flushing labs so all shots were 20-35 yds.

Buying shells online - before next fall

I shot their 3/5's out of my 20 this year and really liked them, especially late season. A couple guys I hunt with shot their 5's out of 20's this year and loved them. I am buying a case of 5's for my 20 & 28 for next season.

    Interesting thoughts

As a kid I started off with a single shot 20, once it got a little older my dad gave me a old JC Higgins 12ga pump, once I got a good job and could afford to buy my first nice gun I bought a Maxus 12. Now all I shoot are my A400's in 20 & 28. I love the weight of the sub gauge guns and the fact...

    A true triple?

I shot a triple this year in Iowa, all 3 got up and flew in slightly different directions, shot the 1st, hit the 2nd bird twice and swung behind me and shot the 3rd at about 35-40 yds with my last shell. I was 20 yds from the truck and done in 10 mins. Took me almost 30 years to pull it off and...

    Unbiased SD report 10/22-10/25

I won't disagree with this as I am from MN and hunt IA almost every weekend that the season is open. But I will say the guys that I hunt with we do make a effort to stop and have lunch or buy something while in the state. Just this past weekend we went to the same bar twice, once friday night...
