I'm lucky. My 2 dogs are really good at finding downed birds. I normally stand back and let them do their thing and one of them normally brings it back.

My primary shotgun for pheasant is a Benelli UL 12 gauge. I hunt by myself most of the time, don't need to impress anyone and I'm a lousy shot.
