    First trip/Advice

Pick an area with a good amount of CREP spots. (brown in the hunting atlas) Most CREP spots have very good crp grass cover, and there's usually corn or soybeans bordering the property, or right across the road.

    Remington 1100 16 gauge

I have one, an early-70's model. 26" plain barrel, IC choke. I bought an extra barrel off gunbroker, 28" mod choke. It's not lightweight by any means, but not real heavy either. I've got a 12ga 1100 from the same era, and the 16 is noticeably lighter than the 12, even though they're built on...

    Trip report Dec-9-13

Nice report, sounds like a great trip. I've taken two trips to SD so far this season and I'm really tempted to squeeze in one more before Christmas.

16ga ammo on clearance at Walmart

Was in my local Walmart here in Texas today and stumbled on some 16ga ammo marked down. $7 a box for Federal Hi-brass 6's, 1 & 1/8 oz, 1295 fps. Regular price was $16, which is way too much. These can be found for $14 a box at several online retailers. I've never used these, but I'm thinking...
