The great thing about pheasants is they are very determined to hatch a successful nest. Last year was a terrible drought in SD and there were still a lot of birds in our area. Conditions seem to be very good this year so my fingers are crossed.

June 10th is considered the “Peak Hatch” date that most hens eggs will hatch. Here’s to hoping for continued great weather and lots of chicks running around this week.

Are hens on nests yet or a little early? I wonder how many nests got flooded and will need to start over.

Never staying home but I am cutting out other things to pay for my SD hunts. Not going out to eat as much, not buying any new equipment / clothes or boots. putting $50 a week aside in a coffee can. Looking forward to late October.
