    Retirement gift for me!

Goose, do you know what grade it is? Got any pictures? I have a 1905 12b and a 1944 16b. Both are lower grade guns, but I love shooting pheasants and ducks with them. the 16 is on the left and the 12 is on the right.

LC Smith is a great option as well. Pre-1913 graded gun is a sweet rig for certain.

    Rex Specs- Again

It’s not too late. It is super easy for them to get used to them. Mushers is the bomb. I love it for their pads.

My Whisky won’t upland hunt without them. I won’t subject him to seeds or scratched corneas ever again!

    New shotgun barrel length

I’m 6’3” and my youngest is 6’4” and we both prefer 30” tubes if at all possible. If shooting an O/U or SxS you can get them and feel better caring them in the field because you don’t have a ton of receiver, like in an auto, that adds even more length.

Funny you mention the wheat stubble because they cut it almost as high as the header will cut, just for the pheasant habitat. Again, they grow for seed and not just sending everything to the elevator. This is a really special family.

I don't disagree with your input, but I can tell you this family has not changed anything other than rotation. They still are big participants in the CRP programs, etc. and grow all sorts of stuff from wheat (for seed), corn, milo, and triticale. Of course they have all sorts of untouched draws...

    Black Cloud for Pheasant

Like others have already said, use what you have and are comfortable with at first. Once you get bitten by the upland bug, you will find yourself gravitating to Boss bismuth. It performs really well for me and I can shoot it in my vintage guns.

    Black Cloud for Pheasant

This is a good question. Do you have to shoot nontoxic shot? If no, then go get a couple boxes of 1 1/8oz of #6 lead from Walmart and go get some birds!

I have hunted the Norton and Decatur counties for the past 20+ years and have seen a steady decline in numbers. I hunt exclusively on private land as well. They have not changed their farming practices, so I attribute it to weather, mainly drought.

That is exactly how we roll through the neighborhood! Side-by-Side down the sidewalk we go!!!

    Section line roads.

We hunt a place that is a solid half-mile off the road. It is an absolute honey hole that holds birds like crazy, but no one goes there because of the walk to get there.

    Cardio Tip

I just put the ecollar on the dog and mount the controller to the bike gooseneck. He stays close and gives him some freedom of movement, but I can control him pretty easily without a physical lead attached.
