    2024 opener

Saturday I was NW of Mitchell on CREP ground and there were a good number of birds. Sunday I stayed closer to home (Iowa) and far less numbers but a lot more standing corn. Called it quits pretty early due to heat.

I'm in Iowa. I have hunted once in SD. North of Plankinton area was my original plan, but like I said I'm open to whatever.

    Teaming up?

I live right across the Big Sioux from S.D and was planning on heading there this weekend with my daughter to Pheasant hunt, but mom stole her with pumpkin patch and shopping bribes. Anyways, I’m still planning on taking the dog and crossing the river but figured I’d ask if anyone wanted to...

    Finished Dog Questions

My assumption is, it went from being a kennel dog with little socialization (other than the trainer) to being thrown into a family environment with a small child. He was two years old. To be honest, with that specific dog, I'm not sure what I could have done differently other than making him a...

    Finished Dog Questions

So I've done this once, and actually had a bad experience, but I would try again... Maybe. After my last lab passed, I decided I wanted to go with a started GSP. I purchased from a reputable kennel. He quickly attached to me (a bit too much), to the point he didn't want anyone else around me in...

    Iowa Roadside Survey

To be honest, not as bad as I was expecting. I do think the crops being harvested earlier this year will definitely help as well!

    Garmin Alpha 300 Lanyard

Just curious what you're using for a lanyard, or how you're carrying this heavy beast that doesn't dig into your neck?

    Iowa Doves

Pretty much, I was stationed at Ft. Riley for awhile and lived in Manhattan so I know exactly what you're talking about.

Puppy Research - Identifying Litters w/ Bloodlines

So not really a direct answer your question but I got my lab through SOK (Southern Oak Kennels) and I couldn't be happier. They advertise more towards the waterfowl side of hunting but he's done very well in the upland fields as well. You can talk to Barton Ramsey (owner) pretty easily and they...
