    Party Hunting

Yeah Im with you on that. I deer hunt about 30 miles due west of Duluth. I see almost as many wolves on my trail cams as I do deer. I at least saw a nice buck last year. Better than some years where I sit for 6 or 7 days and don't even see a tail.

    O/U Oil And Grease

I picked up a Browning Citori 725 Feather in 20 gauge. Id been eyeing adding a Citori to my collection for awhile now and after getting a chance to put my hands on one at Pheasant Fest a few weeks ago, I just had to have it haha Timing and $$ wise I think I did pretty good. Reeds in Walker MN...

    O/U Oil And Grease

Yeah I cleaned it up yesterday and oiled it and greased the hinge pins and what not with some white lithium grease I had. I'll probably pick up something clear for next time. Didn't like all the white haze it left after it dried haha it'd work fine, but I'll get something clear. Just wanted to...

    Lab guys sorry but....

Versatile breeds are breeds that point, retrieve on land and water and for most breeds also blood track. The history of most versatile breeds stems from commoners in Europe that needed a dog that could do everything. Compared to royalty that had one dog for each specific purpose. There's a...

    Lab guys sorry but....

Oh there's plenty of running behind a pointer haha them wild birds don't hold for those gorgeous points like you see in magazines.

    Lab guys sorry but....

This is the first time I think I've ever seen someone claim a versatile dog was too slow haha

    Lab guys sorry but....

Yeah I agree. I've talked with a lot of guys that have versatile dogs at various NAVHDA events and a lot of them used to run labs and they say they'd never go back to a lab after having a versatile breed. Again, not that labs are bad dogs by any stretch, they're just different compared to a...

    Party Hunting

I agree with you that a lot of it is just luck. That like may depend a bit on each situation, like when I've brought a couple buddies hunting that don't have dogs. A lot of the action is by me with the dog. But doing a big line, drive style hunt, completely luck which way the bird goes or who...

    O/U Oil And Grease

Thanks for the info. And yeah it's smooth, just stiff. Doesn't feel like it's catching on anything, just needs to be broken in I'm sure. I've only opened and closed it a handful of times. I'll shoot it for the first time next weekend so should get a few boxes of shells through it.

    O/U Oil And Grease

Picked up my first O/U last night and in reading through the manual it stated for the oil finished stocks to use Danish oil or Tung oil and not to use any gun oil on the wood. This gun is the first oil finished stock I've ever owned so curious how those of you with oil finished stocks clean up...

    Party Hunting

Idk what the thought process is for outlawing it. I'm guessing maybe related to helping bird numbers? Take an example that I've had happen often while hunting here in MN. Multiple times that I'm hunting with my dad, I'll end up shooting 3 birds to his 1. Usually because for one it's my dogs...

    Lab guys sorry but....

Agreed. Don't get me wrong, labs are fantastic dogs, I've hunted with them and my dad had labs when I grew up, but they don't compare to a versatile dog.

    Lab puppy

And he tries to tell me no Small Munsterlander can keep up with a lab in the water haha a well trained dog will do just about anything

    Lab puppy

If you can get your hands on even a dead bird, it would probably help. Clip winged would be best because there's a lot more temptation for the dog as they flop around in the water. But a dead bird will work too.

    Lab puppy

Hot dogs are my go to high value treat when training haha

    Lab puppy

Yeah usually another dog will swimming coerce a young one to swim. But sounds like Goose has tried that. My dog now wouldn't swim even when the older one was out there swimming around and retrieving bumpers. She'd wait at the bank for her to get out then chase her to get the bumper. What I ended...

    Lab puppy

I would suggest not pushing him off a dock anymore. That didn't help your cause any if he was already hesitant around water and likely caused you to make life more difficult now. I would suggest putting on rubber boots, waders would be better, and getting in the water with him. Bring high value...

    Preferred 20 Gauge Shell

Yeah as a tool it would be great. I definitely see the pros for that gun, especially at its price point. CZ probably sells a ton of them given that they are a sub 6 pound O/U for about $800
