Man it happens when you’re putting puzzle together, I’m glad you still had fun and learned a few things. Start gathering info and getting ready for next year, if we get rain and decent weather they will be back

    Bobwhite coveys

I agree with dude, and remember Mother Nature takes more than we do. This year I’ve seen more hawk kills and attempts than ever before, and they hunt every day. When the covey is single digits I try to leave them alone!

    English Setters

I’m currently looking at setters and it’s more complicated in lines than I thought. From close working grouse dogs to thoroughbred dogs out west. My advice is get a setter because you want one and not out of convenience. Have you hunted behind the female?

They move a bit from cover to food, my advice drive out west to one of your wma properties and point your dog into the wind. There are enough birds this year if you pick a place with weeds grass and overhead cover, look for tracks and old roosts you can find some birds. If you strike out it...

Pheasant are a blast and I’ve shot my share in Oklahoma over the years, but you have some excellent public quail hunting in your state. This year was the best since 16-17, I personally never had a strike out this year and made a point to try some new properties. Learn how to navigate one of...

    2024 gear review...what worked and what didn't?

I bought the featherweight system, no padding. It’s very comfortable and I carry a ton of water, 3-4 nalgine bottles

    2024 gear review...what worked and what didn't?

My exact thoughts on the marsupial, its the most comfortable vest system I’ve tried but the ammo pouches are junk! They just repurposed a general storage pouch and call it a shell pouch

    Switching Inukshuk?

And I’m feeding more than 2 cups in season, he’s on 3 cup once a day

    Switching Inukshuk?

I feed pro plan 30/20, my old dog started at 70 lbs and today weighs 58, young dog only went 45 to 39. To be fair my old dog started the season a little heavy, this year the summer goal is to keep him at 65

    Indian Reservation Hunting

We did a prairie chicken/grouse hunt on one and it was good, but no better than some of the state and grasslands. Deal is that’s it’s a stand alone license, all your state stuff is separate.. if I lived there u bet I would, for a week trip once a year I’ll do one or the other.

    Family

Good question, all my friends and family that hunt are drawn to it through the dogs.
