    Snake avoidance training

I live and hunt in Texas, snakes are just part of the equation unfortunately. One of the biggest rattlers I’ve encountered( and killed) in the field was end of November/ beginning of December. It was fairly cool out. We had 3” of snow on the ground the week before where I killed her. They do in...

    Hunting & Camping

I’ve done it out of a truck with a capper before( in Kansas) with a single bed on one side, 2 dog beds on the other side of the bed( my dogs religiously sleep on their beds at night). There are quite a few rv parks in Kansas - some have bath houses too. Research this before you leave- you should...

    Steadiness

I regard/define creeping as a bad thing. When a dog does not have the discipline or maybe the know how to stop moving forward on a stationary bird and results in bumping it. I love and promote the concept of my dogs repositioning or “ flashpointing” ( as we call it) on a moving bird. Once that...

    Steadiness

As Dakotazeb has said..”whoa”! I would definitely make that command a priority this summer. The dog is pointing… reinforce the whoa command and use it when you are going to the point. Is he e collar conditioned? Pigeons and launchers for sure in the off season. Utilize a check cord and a second...

    Leaving Dogs In Vehicle

I've never worried about leaving dogs on the rig when it's cold but heat makes me real nervous. I am a huge fan of having a bluetooth/remote temperature sensor in the dog box that I can monitor from inside the truck while I'm driving-they make these where you can monitor them from your phone...

northeastern, Montana October 2023 place to rent

I carry a ”dog”box on the rig. It includes first aid supplies and “preventative” equipment like boots, belly saver vests, and udder ointment. my point is if you’re not sure your dogs feet can’t handle it, or in this case a solo dog in big , rough country- you owe it to your buddy and get him a...

A few pictures of this last season!! I can't wait until next!

Nice quail mount too- the birds look great! I don’t know about the cat tails and quail… that’s the other reason why I was asking. Do the quail utilize cat tails in your neck of the woods? I know pheasant do this but never heard of quail using cat tails.
