    Pheasants - Cold?

And there's also the fun fact that pen raised birds were tried several times but couldn't survive. It took rocket nets to capture wild birds in MO and brought to SE MN bluff country for them to take hold in MN. Ruffled grouse were traded for the turkeys.

    Pheasants - Cold?

Some of these turkeys nowadays are so high falutin' they live downtown. I think they roost in some high brow penthouse. They look down their beaks at the poor old country birds sleeping in trees.

    Here we go!

They really know how to cook good German food in Montgomery, last year I think the meal was pork loin, and man was it good!😋 I didn't win anything, but they had some good prizes so I'll try again this year. Hope I can make it, if not I attend a banquet at a neighboring county. It's nice to get...

    HB 1236 Safety Zone Increase

One good thing about this post is that you can learn a lot from reading other peoples point of view. I gather that most on this site are honest hunters who follow the rules, landowners trying to be good stewards of their property for wildlife, or both. Me personally I love pheasant hunting and...

20ga or 12ga for upland birds

I think the more important question than gauge is what ammo to shoot. I'll leave out tss, because it's not economically feasible unless you're really into reloading and want to roll your own. If you plan on shooting steel then a 12 gauge is the way to go. Yes, plenty a bird has been killed by...

    Bird Numbers

We will see what happens to the formula if and when the genetic strain sees a shift. They would have to add a strong inverse reduction to overall take should the blueback pheasant migrate north from Kansas and increase its percentage of overall bird biomass. They're that much tougher to kill...

    HB 1236 Safety Zone Increase

I know from your posts you read and follow all the rules and have a good set of ethics. I'll admit it's wild you've done so much fishing and hunting and never see a warden. I guess we're opposites in that one😄. I just did a quick casual count and I've been stopped over a dozen times by a...

    HB 1236 Safety Zone Increase

I think it would be enforced a lot, by honest sportsmen on themselves who follow the rules. And as pointed out earlier, bad apples who don't ever read or follow the rules will break them regardless. Now just because you never run into the warden, may be for numerous reasons. Hunting all...

    Shed dogs ?

Roxy has always loved deer antlers. When she was a puppy she got a shed to chew on. She found this one last April. I was really impressed because it was buried under a lot of tall grass, so she had to have smelled it.

Man I really miss it already

It's been just over a month since I last was lucky enough to walk the prairies, plains, fences, field edges, marshes and food plots behind a good dog looking for a rooster. I know that every season needs to end. The birds need to survive the winter, dogs need rest, and we need to step away back...
