    If you wing a bird

The wind , the excitement of the first hunt of the year, the dry conditions. Some days it just happens. I went out yesterday , was supposed to be a tune up for pheasants in a week. 30 mile an hour wind, First freeze, went from dry to really dry. . Turned into a shit show. Poor shooting, dogs...

    Pressure?

If I go out on public during opening weekend I sleep in and go someplace close to home. There are small pieces of state public that don’t receive much pressure. They are usually nontox and don’t have much walk-in in the area to fill out a day.

    Warning/Danger sign

I probably worded that wrong. Would a rancher ever throw arsenic or antifreeze or something else on a carcass that died from natural causes that would kill a coyote when they fed on it? . I worry about a dog dragging off a bone or a piece of hide and getting sick from it.

    Warning/Danger sign

When I run across a bone yard( where dead cattle have been drug off to) It worries me that maybe they have been top dressed with something to poison coyotes?

    Playing with patterns

pellet counts on some of my lead shells. B&P pg throws the best pattern of any shell I’ve patterned and through an IC. 264/328 80% at 30. Pellet count is closer to a 6.5 or 7. It’s been hell on the 3 chickens I’ve shot with it. If I didn’t have so many shells in the freezer so to speak I’d be...

Anybody been out in this heat?

Yeah I got my sept. chicken off my back. 2+ hr drive to hunt maybe 1.5 hrs in an evening.. I like evening even with the heat. The grass is really tall this year a lot of small rains but nothing heavy enough to fill the ponds , big ones are dry. The chickens were scattered around that stock...

    Forecast

When they talk pockets I have to wonder anymore if this year it’s going to be cargo pants or are we talking skinny jeans. I use to think of a pocket as 3 or 4 counties.
