Pheasant tips and my plan for the weekend.

Dang now I know what I am doing wrong. Here I sit combing burrs out of my dogs after I cleaned my own birds. Then I have to dry my own boots out because I broke through the ice on a cat tail slough along with wet pants because I was busting snow all day. But I do have a 6 of craft beer to go...

Looking for info on the Alma/Holdredge area in south central

Haven’t been in a couple years but was very poor for pheasants than. Friend went last year and said it was worse. That said there wasn’t many hunters so it will be peaceful. When I say poor another hunter said he saw 2 birds yesterday and he was going back to hunt that piece because he thought...

    Golden retriever hair/fur product

My wife would divorce me. Actually our field bred red dogs don’t have much hair. Now my 14 year old spayed female is a real hairball.

    Golden retriever hair/fur product

I used to spray PAM on them before I started, but found the detangler that some recommended works just as well. I wouldn't shave them as we mostly hunt when it's colder and there is snow.

Why is deer hunting so popular?

I grew up in the 50s and 60s in Wisconsin. Deer camp was mostly for drinking and playing cards. Deer were shot, generally any deer and usually a result of a drive. These people grew up in the depression and horns meant nothing. Times change and lifestyles change. Guess people need to hang...

    Montana

Well duh. MT offers a license for the whole season for one price. Your neighbors make nonresidents buy a few days at a time. Then MT has a lot, a really lot of land in block management plus a lot of state and federal also. The pros bring truckloads of dogs to train there and then give them back...

At what point do you retire your dog?

I have a golden that will be 15 in Feb. I hunted her a lot last year. She got the small honey hole covers that the youngsters would race through. The youngsters got the cat tail sloughs and big crp fields. She looks like she can make it through a few more short walks this year, we'll see.

Will SD GFP get back to basics?

Huh? What? Will someone fill me in. Remember I come from the end of the road and I don't get the lower 48 gossip often.

$4.47 to $4.69 in town. Consider this it is pumped out of the ground within 20 miles of my house and refined about 40 miles away. They claim we don't qualify for volume discounts here.

    Porcupines On The Prairies

In MT and ND I run into porkies every year. Some dogs learn to avoid them others like an old female of mine get at least one quill pulling session every year. Not so many in SD, but more skunks.
