Looking for a left hand Pheasant gun

All 37 safeties are the same size aren’t they? My 20 and 12 use the same size. Easy to order a LH safety.

    Pheasant wings for training

Actually she’s a Golden. I’m 55; she’ll give a reason to get out and keep moving.

    Pheasant wings for training

I’ll be getting my new puppy in January too. It was supposed to happen before Christmas but that litter had several stillborn pups, which left me out of luck. A litter born on Thanksgiving yielded enough of the little suckers for me to get one.

    Pheasant wings for training

I used the wings with both my Vizsla and my first Golden. Picked up the idea from books that Richard Wolters wrote. Seemed to work with my dogs so I’m not discounting the method. I asked because I wanted to see if others did likewise with wings.

    if you had $2500

Citori or 686, whichever fits better. For me the Browning is a better fit.

    Why full choke?

It seems like the choke went along with the barrel length. 30” barrels were choked full, 28” was Modified and 26” was Imp Cyl, at least as far as repeaters went. Probably somewhat had to do with manufacturing to keep costs and inventory in check. Anyone I knew that mainly hunted ducks bought...

    White Satin?

Found my first Citori recently in a pawn shop- a 20ga. from ‘83. Like it so much that I decided to look for a new one in 12ga. but it seemed like traditional field models aren’t too common until I did a search and came up with the White Satin. A new Citori for $1,500 seems pretty good, so now...

Tell Me About Your Best Ever Dog...

I’ve only had two dogs so far and they were both pretty incredible. 1st was a Vizsla that taught me more about pheasants than I thought there was to know. He went above and beyond, even to the point of retrieving birds that fell into water. 2nd was a Golden that was pure class but would avoid...

    Gun Boxes - worth keeping?

Depends on the box. I just bought a new Ithaca and the box doesn’t have any markings on it. I don’t see any point in keeping it except for storing/shipping some other gun. My Rizzini came in a plastic case that’ll go with that gun when I decide to move it along. That’s a box worth keeping.

    Today’s results

When I lived in Iowa I hunted a lot of road ditches but always away from buildings and livestock. I liked places where I could park and walk a long way then walk the other side of the road back to my car. As far as peppering people with shot, I don’t shoot unless the bird is surrounded by sky...

    Citori Got Baptized...

I used to have a customer that left his LOADED over / under on his tailgate. Dog jumps up in the truck, steps on the gun somehow hitting the trigger (no safety?) and blows a hole in the guy’s belly. You better sleep with one eye open when Harley's around!
