    Saturday is opener

Duck hunting was always crazy rushing to a spot or getting out there at midnight ha was always just part of the experience and was expected. Pheasant is different for me though and I try very hard to stay away from others and won’t usually hunt if there’s another truck there. Sure part of it...

    Dog soap, shampoo?

I just use some cheap stuff from hyvee, groomers best is the brand. Maybe one every couple months when stinky , but they get one every time they leave the boarders too.Dog does a pretty damn good job of keeping itself clean. Awesome coat.

Yes, the internet gives people the resources to find new and different spots to hunt. I use it to find new spots to hunt, sure it sucks if your spots are now being hunted more, but it’s the way it is. It’s interesting hunting numbers keep going down but you wouldn’t know it if you are an avid...

    Land prices.

80 acres isn’t too small. Know lots of guys who buy their 40 for hunting. Any slough or trees or just 80 acres of crp? Regardless I would have hopped on that in an heartbeat and made it work me thinks. If anything an investment. Not making more of it. Less than a new truck.

    Early goose, teal anyone?

Is Early goose season still pretty popular? Haven’t been out since high school, lots of late mornings to class. Don’t really know anyone who does lots of primary goose hunting anymore, guess I was wondering if it’s still pretty popular or am I just super removed from it. Or Any one do the new...

    Muck/Rubber Boots For Upland

Have a nice pair of insulated lacrosse muck boots. Think they are 1200g or whatever. They are nice and definitely waterproof but they are heavy. I switched back to some regular lace up hunting boots ( Rockies I think) and they are so much lighter and feel sooo much better. Couple hours walking...

Wild bird hunting might be cheaper than I thought

Not to get off topic and I love my dog but I probably wouldn’t own one if it wasn’t a hunting dog. It is definitely a family dog but not really needed for fulfillment in my life.I didn’t hunt roosters for years because I didn’t have a dog, so in a way I do kinda count it as an hunting expense...

    Truck caps

Blows me away how expensive truck caps get. Topper with decked system or drawers, ideal for outdoor adventures. My truck just does to much other shit to make it practical I think. Maybe not though.. hmm

    Importance of eCollars?

It’s just reinforcement for a command. Like a long leash I guess. I say HERE, dog thinks -“ ehh maybe I don’t know whatever dude” I beep it. Dog thinks- “ oh shit I better listen”. Just a tool to help reinforce learned commands and have control in different situations. Some that could be...

Wild bird hunting might be cheaper than I thought

It can be pretty cheap. Gear needed very minimal. Dogs are obviously a year around thing, and everything that comes with that. Got pretty expensive for me last year at game farms trying to get my dog sure thing exposure. Other than that just cost gas and shells walking cover with the pup. I...

OT- homemade meals while on the road

Like a big hungry man’s breakfast has always excited me at duck or deer camp. Hashbrowns, heavy sausage or some sort of meat. fried eggs, toast. Warms you right up. Chilli is a deer camp staple. Wife makes a big batch. Now we are closer to town so usually eat out a night too.
