    MN report

Had a great hunt today in SW.My shooting started off pretty poor but eventually I warmed up and managed an easy limit. Made the long trek back and even beat the family home. Roosters held nice and tight and gave perfect shot opportunities. Couldn’t have asked for anything more

    Deer Season is Upon Us

Was very fortunate to harvest my biggest buck ever this weekend. Think I’ll try to shoot some roosters later this week.

    Deer Season is Upon Us

Isn’t that funny. When im out walking around deer hunting don’t even get close. When im out pheasant hunting, i can damn near walk over one, and when they are running they give you a perfect shot. I got bored a few years ago, decided to try squirrel hunting. Hell when im deer hunting they are...

    Deer Season is Upon Us

This thread sure got derailed, ha! Not sure about hunting for both at the same time 😂Also I used my normal shotgun with a bird barrel up until recently, and have killed lots of deer. But I’m looking forward to slug season and hopefully getting a deer. Last year I went out on some public mid...

    2024 Upland Season

That’s exactly what I was doing. Doing stuff at the deer property, that land is flat. Brought the pup with to hunt a few random pieces of public on the way home. Wonder what the birds do in that situation?

Amazing what the storm did where I was at today. Knocked down crp fields and cattail sloughs flat.

    License check. Is this legal?

Meh, he knew you guys were hunting, and was not wrong. Nothing wrong here. Lots of guys get pits in their stomach when CO comes around. Even some of the most strait laced guys I know.

    Poachers

That’s a pretty common thing. Plenty of successful land owners do it too. Not saying it’s right.

    Helping a friend

Yeah man good attitude. My dog has lots of quirks and gave me lots of doubts after reading to much on the forums on what she should be doing and red flags and what not. There was a point she was scared of birds or showed not much interest. I just kept at it. I did pay for bird and gun. So that...

    If you wing a bird

Well not sure the answer to this particular question, but I will say it is amazing what an injured animal can and will do to survive or evade its predator ( us specifically). Pheasants, waterfowl, deer. How deep they can burrow themselves, etc. I have witnessed some big injured bucks escape when...

    Hunting in the hurricane

Always cracks me up when a bird takes off in the wind, so fast, I don’t even try, just laugh. Reminds of getting buzzed by waterfowl going a million mph. And you just say welp, there goes some.

    Saturday is opener

I agree with that as well. Just basic respect to your fellow hunters. I imagine we are all on the same page here.

    Saturday is opener

Not own it, but I would say some common sense and respect comes into play. See grims post above. You have to work hard on public and if you put the extra effort to be at a spot first I think other people should respect that. It obviously depends on the wma and the land as well.
