Real World Hunting Noise Example....sort of

I think about it this way. The more birds that sit and get killed the less of those birds there are to breed in the spring. The ones that run or fly early and don't get killed live to breed. Maybe the evasion tactics are getting bred into them in a sense.

22 Million Acres of CRP, gone?

Gonna really help with their clean air, clean water and capturing carbon. Watch they'll take it all out then turn around and the normal everyday person will be blamed even more for not reducing this country's carbon footprint.

SD Fall colors/hunt w new family next year

They best colors in the fall are definitely the black hills. If you hit it right it can be really amazing for about a two week period. As far as pheasants around the hills it's slim pickings. The closer you get to the river the better chance you'll have at putting up birds.

Buying shells online - before next fall

I have stocked up on trap shells for the summer online in the last month. This gets me thinking about next October already. Might have to see if online will be an option for hunting shells.

    Relocation to south dakota

Fishing is by far better in Pierre or Chamberlain over Yankton. Usually more pheasants around Pierre and Chamberlain too.

Deer hunting up there is an adventure as well.

Trying to get my nephew a bird

Take a day or two in the off-season and go shoot some sporting clays. 100 rounds a couple times a year can do wonders for shooting performance. Also, I've seen people that can bust clays all day and when it comes to hitting birds they are blowing holes in the sky. Might be he is taking his head...

    Sylmar Dogwear

I use their dog boots. They said they were out until this spring. Then this spring they didn't have them either. I wonder if Sylmar sold all their stock to gun dog supply and once it runs out it's gone. Just speculation that they stopped making product.

    Restaurants/Bars Aberdeen-Webster?

Always went to Lagers while I was in college. I've been to Slackers and Pounders and they're all your typical bar foods. Always good but never special.

    SD Resident Opener Reports?

While my days in marching band are over it was always a toss up for me when marching band and hunting season collided. I figured I could hunt my whole life so went with the band. Anyways, I got out Saturday and today. Saw 25 birds in about a two hour span on Saturday. Got a shot at one of them...

    Restaurants/Bars Aberdeen-Webster?

The one legged pheasant is a brewery in Aberdeen and would be local. If different types of beer is up your alley. Been there a few times and have not been disappointed with selection.

    Phez appetizers

I dice them up and bread them then fry them in my air fryer. Add your favorite dipping sauce. Fairly easy and I haven't had a person notice yet it's not chicken.

    2021 Outlook

After running my dog five times this past month through some fields I can say it's going to be very spotty. One field we put up 26 in a half hour. Another we walked for 2.5 hours and didn't get a single bird up. The other three areas were somewhere in between on the numbers. Lot of fields cut...

    Relocation opportunity

If you're fishing in a boat one of the last spots of open water to freeze in the state is usually between Chamberlain and the dam at Ft. Thompson. Also usually one of the first to open back up to good fishing in the spring.

    Relocation opportunity

Fishing is far superior in Pierre than Yankton. Bird hunting, as long as you're in the eastern 2/3 of the state you should be within an hour or less of good numbers in either town.

    Emergency haying.

Just to play devils advocate. Some of those cattails getting cut, bailed, or burned can have a positive effect in the long run. Not saying all but some are so overgrown and blown down that there is no way pheasants even use them. It'll be wet again some year down the road and the sloughs will...

Severe Weather in Edmunds, Brown and Day Counties

Some people up there lost the crops in every field they have. I went to college up in Aberdeen. Still have quite a few people up that way I stay in touch with. It was very bad in some places. Total losses.

    Does Your Lawn Have Weeds...

I generally only use round-up in my rock beds. Dog for the most part doesn't like walking in those. For the grass weed-b-gone is safe after it dries for people and animals. Same goes for the fertilizer.

Here's a path of the hail that left a scar so even a satellite can pick it up.
