    New upland shotgun?

I too shot a Berretta A400 extreme. I have gotten used to the safety location. However, I always keep my finger on the safety which after several hours of doing this my finger does get stiff from being stretched out in order to reach the safety which is on the front side of the trigger guard...

    Steel Shot

The Black Cloud non-toxic is down right lethal. Expensive but very lethal. It will not only knock your bird down, it will turn your rooster into a shredded rooster. When you drive 2 days to get to SD to hunt, paying a little more for quality shells is pennies on the dollar. If I'm not using...

    Seizure

Harper had one Friday night. It only lasted 10 minutes compared to the prior one that lasted almost three hours. Vet also told me they were too infrequent to warrant medication. Although I did not tell him about the multiple hour seizures. This is the third one she had this year.

    How to Shoot a Bird

Gettinbirdie, Now you know why it is my only goal for the trip! Of course it always happens on the best point/flush and all you can do is watch them fly away in all their glory. It's still a beautiful sight to see, but not beautiful to be a part of.

    How to Shoot a Bird

How do you shoot a woodcock? When the bird flushes, try to turn it the direction of the flush, raise your gun in the direction he was going when he flushed, pull the trigger even if you no longer see the bird, wait for your dog to bring him back! don't worry about shouldering the gun or still...

    Seizure

Sorry to hear Echo had a seizure. My lab had her first seizure at 3 years of age. It is not normal for dogs to begin having seizures later in life so I looked into it more after her breeder reported no history in either mating side. Turns out I had just switched to a different flea and tick...

    THE 225 MILE U TURN

I keep alcohol, super glue and a staple gun to mend any bad skin tares. Also carry drugs for my dog in case she gets a bad cut. Have not had to use the staple gun yet. Last year one of our dogs got something jammed up her nose and she just kept sneezing and sneezing. We could see it but...

    Conditions

No body can write a report that will keep me from going. It could be 100% doom and gloom and I am still going. I have hunted the best years and the worst years over the last 20 years and always do just fine. Can't say that for the rest of my group. If you don't know what you are doing, don't...

    WILD Pheasant Harvest Numbers

Very interesting about the PA pheasant decline and you guys trying to bring them back. I grew up in Shiremanstown, PA. As soon as I was old enough to hunt by myself I would walk out my back door onto the the Sheely's farm and would pheasant hunt all the way to Mechanicsburg. This was in the...

    New from South Carolina

I live in Seneca and work at Clemson and go every year. My buddy I go with every year had a whipple about 4 years ago, and my neighbor also had one. Both are doing very well with no change of lifestyle or eating/drinking habits. What I understand is if you choose whipple, make sure your...

    2021 RINGNECK OUTLOOK

I'm no novice, and can tell the difference. I have hunted released birds in PA and in SC for reasons such as young kids and dog training, but don't go to SD to hunt them. I have been hunting birds for over 45 years including ruffed grouse, woodcock, dove, pheasant, ducks , geese, pigeon and...

    2021 RINGNECK OUTLOOK

I am originally from PA now living in SC for over 30 years. Most if not all the areas I hunted pheasant in PA as a youngster are gone to development with the exception of the few Amish farms I used to hunt in Lancaster County. But many of the Amish are moving out too so I don't know anymore...

    2021 RINGNECK OUTLOOK

I personally don't know how GFP does there accounting but we only hunt wild birds or we think we only hunt wild birds. I say this because we hunt mostly private land and one time we found out after the fact that another family member had put out birds for his hunters the week or two before we...

    2021 RINGNECK OUTLOOK

Great report Good Boy! That's at least half the reason we go. To make relationships with good people. The other half is for the dogs. If there was another half remaining, it would be to shoot a limit. Thanks for sharing.

    Downsized Vehicle

Just bought a 2013 AWD pilot. it fits two large kennels side by side with second row seat up and third row seat down. High way mpg at 26. Mixed driving around 22 mpg. Driving 80 mph, mpg drops to about 24. You can push a button from the drivers seat to open the tail gate. Very nice when...

    Rooster and Hen ratios?

No recent chatter on the forum. I guess everyone is either planting, fishing or working. I'll be fishing for the next two weeks between some work and field prep. Stripers and hybrids will be hitting the fryer. What does the Rooster Hen ratio look like now that winter has passed and spring...
