    Opening Fixed Choke?

Well, of course, every one gets to make their own choice, but I'd rather spend the extra and have the choices of chokes than to have only one with a gun that I favor using. Not arguing, but seems to make more sense for me, and for possible future sale or use. Either way, best wishes.

    Opening Fixed Choke?

I've had two older shotguns modified by a very good gunsmith. Took a while, because he was very busy. He needed to cut and then thread the barrels. Work fine. Bring your own chokes, not something he'd have in stock...especially 16 gauge. Good luck

    Did I make a mistake?

Never, ever, regret the guns you didn't buy in casual encounters. Your native optimism will endow them with remarkable attributes--far beyond most guns' capability. You never picture the barrel falling out of the receiver a you are passing it to your buddy as the two of you cross over a small...

Small, but meaningful steps in training

Maggie is a 7 year old ESS who hadn't been trained, other than socialization. I've had her about 2 months, and have been working steadily, if slowly, to get her to work with me. Fetching was often confusing to her, so I went to kitchen training, making it play, then play with some insistence...

    Grouse and Hun Opener 2022

Hey GJW, nice images, great dog, good hunting, and your son has a lovely SXS. Actually, his is the first AYA 20ga double I've seen posted online. My one true love is my Matador II 20, which does not have the engraving, has a sst, and is IC and MOD. Nice days, wonderful pictures. Thanks

    An Unwanted Dog

and she got lucky beyond belief by being taken into the home and hearth and heart of a hunter who's pretty sure dogs have a soul and who treats them with respect. Good dog! Good man!

    E collar introduction

It's too late in life for me to start this campaign again, but for years I labored to have some dog owners who abuse hot collars to have surgically-implanted electronic training suppositories inserted in them, which would simultaneously respond to that person's stimulating his dog. I truly...

Lets See Your Dogs..post some pic's

Thanks, Bud... been waiting for this to maybe happen for quite a while. I'm pleased, and like that liver and white happy disposition bouncing around. Seven years old is not a puppy, but she mostly wants to please, although I sometimes get a look from her that's like a chicken listening to a...

    Question for a GFP CO

Just my opinion, and I'm old...but I like rules. I like that I can know what is ok and what is not. Knowing that a person might be able to scrape by on licensing confusion is not the same as obeying the rules that govern the hunting season and territory. Simply stated, it is not right. If...

Lets See Your Dogs..post some pic's

NEW, USED DOG, field bred ESS, Maggie, 7 years old, never trained--or sent to trainer who didn't do any. A sweetheart, and while she'll never fill Mick's place in my heart, maybe I can take my time and encourage her to do things like fetch, and find. I've got a near-by game farm which is going...

    New in Iowa

How wonderful that the previous owners were trying to cultivate habitat; most places that are currently for sale seem to be cleared for as much cropping as possible. It will be enriching, perhaps, if in the first several seasons you go out to appreciate the property and the dog work and let the...

Going Fishing Instead of Just Wishing

Congratulations, Britchaser. No thanks necessary, but a quiet suggestion: take it easy, field capable is a category, not a "completely healed" diagnosis.Take it from someone who has pushed the healing path to the point of er...extending the length of the path. And get a nice rainbow that we can...
