    2024 opener

I leave tomorrow. Gonna run a grain cart a couple of days for my farmers prior to the opener. This will be our 28th consecutive year.

    These video guys

Easy there scooter. I see birds leaving the farms we hunt, gliding straight on to public areas every year and it's been SD for almost 30 consecutive years for me. I'm sure the public grounds push birds back to private as well.

Okay. I'll let everyone know how that works out for us.

    These video guys

It's called a free market economy with all the bells and whistles of supply and demand sprinkled in. I have a group of 9 and this is our 28th straight season hunting 8 different farms for 4 days each year. Some years have been better than others but never pen-raised birds!! We don't pay $200/day...

    Looking for expert opinions

With that many: 1. have a plan before getting to your spots. 2. make sure everyone wears safety glasses. 3. before leaving your lodging, make sure everyone knows to not slam doors at the field and keep chatter to a low whisper. 4. It's not a bad idea for maybe 3 or 4 in the group to have a...

    L. C. Smith side by side 16 ga.

If I am looking at the sn correctly, relative to the chart I have, it was manufactured between 1890 and 1919. Can that be right?

    L. C. Smith side by side 16 ga.

My grand father probably bought it in the late 50's, early 60's. I know I heard him say it was used when he bought it. I'll see if there is a SN I can research. I leave a Belgium 12 A5 in South Dakota at our farm house all year but my dad left me his Belgium 12 ga A5. It stays in Georgia. He...

    L. C. Smith side by side 16 ga.

Taking an L. C. Smith side by side 16 ga. this year I inherited from my grand father to SD. We typically fly into Sioux Falls most years so I never wanted it exposed to baggage handling but I am driving this year. I want to take a couple of pheasants with the gun but I don't want to shoot too...

    Unguided hunt…

Kno Knowing what I know now after 27 hunting seasons in SD, I would zero in on a line from Mitchell to Kimball on I-90. You go north, south, east, or west of that line and you are in prime time pheasant country. I hunt south of that line 20 miles but look for public access in that general area...

    Passing through SD…Pheasants Galore

Yes, we travel 1300 miles and hunt four days the first week. We sometimes come back later and hunt a few days but we could hunt the whole five if we could have a break after day three. We are wiped out after four straight days so we lose day five of the license.
