    Disappointed

Cabelas was a great store. Their clothing lines were better quality than Bass Pro. They had more hunting stuff and had better prices. Ole Johnny came in a ruined it all.

    What would your reaction be?

I don't have his number. Its been about 3 years now. If I had it, I would post it. Like I said, not trying to be a problem here. Its not going to solve anything. I guess the point I was trying to make is that not all non-resident hunters are bad. Have a great day.

    What would your reaction be?

This guy had a very large Kansas phone number on his truck. All the trucks had Kansas license plates. The Kansas resident we were with said the guide was from Kansas and he knew him. Maybe they weren't from there, but all signs said they were. Not trying to be a problem here but I've seen...

    What would your reaction be?

From Arkansas and had the opposite happen. Drove into a private land spot with a person that worked for the owner, that only we had permission to be on. When we got there, there were about 4 Kansas trucks parked on the road just short of where we were going to hunt. We drove down and parked...

Looking for a new 20 or 16 gauge side by side shotgun...your opinions are welcomed!

I have a FAIR Iside 16 ga. Basic model with double triggers. Its a great gun, but fit and finish aren’t “great”. I have an Ithaca (SKB) 20 gauge that is pretty nice. Been looking at an Aya and Ugartheca on gunbroker in 16 ga as well. Love the classics, but those Faustis and Rizzinis are nice.

Blockers, what chokes are you using.

I’m not sure they are necessary. A good #5 going 1250-1300 has been killing roosters just fine for many years. Lots of guys I hunted with this year bought some because they were enamored by the speed. Not one kept shooting them after the first day. They went back to fiocchi, kent, and...

Blockers, what chokes are you using.

Modified choke for me. This year in my 20 gauge O/U, I shot imp mod and full. I really liked that combo. I started with light mod and mod and found i wasn’t hitting them solid enough with the first shot. When I switched, it was putting them down hard. Shooting #5 or #4. All Fiocchi

    Choking for Wind

Its all about pattern. If your chokes are patterning well, then wind speed would have little to do with your choke selection. Unless, as Dakotazeb pointed out, you’re trying to stretch out some long shots. I suppose speed of shot could also play a role. Faster shot should have less wind...

    License check. Is this legal?

Went on a trip to Canada to fish with my brother and my dad. Got to the border and we were selected to get inspected. Had to pull into a bay and they checked everything. This was my 2nd trip up and their 10th or so. My brother was livid about us losing time and that we were being searched...

    A5 16gauge

I shot some 20 gauge prairie storm ammo this year in SD. I didn’t really like it. Standard Kent 2 3/4” fast lead and Fiocchi GP worked just fine and without the recoil. I patterned some and it didn’t pattern as good either.

Both. I’m going to start with a new one while I’m looking for an older one.

    A5 16gauge

I didn’t even own a 12 gauge until last year. I bought a Beretta A400 to shoot trap with my son. Its a good shooter, but I would rather do anything than carry it in the field. Not that its heavy or anything. its a great gun. If the made one in 16 ga, I’d buy it in a heartbeat. But I grew up...

    A5 16gauge

I’m getting ready to pick one up. I’ve got Carlson’s and Trulock chokes for my 20 gauges. Thinking I’ll go with Trulock for the sweet 16. I like Briley but not sure they are worth the premium for $20-30 more per choke. Always had good luck with Trulock.

    Chokes matter?

100% chokes matter. I just got back from SD. Took my Beretta 20 ga O/U. I had carlson’s IM/M chokes in the barrel. Missed a few the first day of hunting. The owner of the land we hunt on said, you need to go tighter on your chokes. I was hesitant since I thought those would work. But I...

Ithaca Mod 37 16 ga. Mod choke pattern?

I have an Ithaca model 37 16 ga with a fixed mod choke. I'm going to pattern it, but was wondering if anyone else had and what their experience was. When I bought it I was told to expect more of a IC pattern with that choke. Hoping that isn't the case. I want to use it on pheasants next year.
