CZ Redhead Changing Length of Pull

I'm of the opinion that length of pull may be he most crucial factor in accurate shotgun shooting. Lengthen, shorten, cushion, install or remove spacers...the right change makes a HUGE difference in one's success.

    Pheasant and/or ducks?

Did a search. Interesting breed. Surprised we don't see more of them. https://www.101dogbreeds.com/braque-francais-gascogne-pyrenees.asp

Saying Hello to my New Friends

One of the first things you might do is read A HUNTER'S ROAD, by Jim Fergus. It's a very well-written book by a hunter who took to the road for about five months, touring America with his sort-of trained young Lab. It might give you some ideas. Enjoy your retirement.

    Single shot guns?

Always admired those rifles. Out of my price range and return-on-investment hunting credo, but works of art, in my opinion. https://www.winchesterguns.com/products/rifles/model-1885.html

    Pheasant and/or ducks?

Both. Jump-shooting ducks and stalking the elusive pheasant. I don't do well sitting in a blind; it's enough to make me want to start smoking cigarettes again. Dogs? German Wirehaired Pointers and field bred English Springer Spaniels. Always only one dog with me on the hunt. Best wishes.

    Who Cares About Politics/Economy??

CLINIC: : a facility (as of a hospital) for diagnosis and treatment of outpatients. : Yup, yup, yup. We're sort of outpatients---focused outpatients, perhaps, but most certainly seeking treatment.

    Low Turkey Numbers

I can't say this is sure-fire, but my life-time experience is: If you want to get a turkey, go squirrel hunting; if you want to get a deer, go turkey or rabbit hunting; if you want to SEE a black bear, bring a .22/20ga Model 24; and finally ( and this is almost a guarantee), if you really are...

Don't see any need for being that vulgar, GM. This is a class joint. You know better.

    Spring Turkey

I've gotten 9 or 10 turkeys over the course of living in the country. Of these, only two have been palatable, the others were as tough as dried rind. I've tried cooking bags, apples and oranges in the chest cavity, even canned turkey gravy in the cooking bags. No joy for me, so I've virtually...

The Voice of Experience echoes in my brain: NEVER forget chimney cleaning; a chimney fire is life-changing.

    CATTAILS

Just a thought: the farm and real estate lobbies make much more generous donations to political campaigns than the wildlife and nature conservation organizations. Politics is cash-investment driven, irrespective of the politicians' public statements. It is still a bitter truth for me. Be well.

    Draht/GWP

You might get some sense of at least one GWP if you go through the 8 or so posts I made about Young Bert, the not-right dog. He was a life experience. This is the first of the posts: https://forum.ultimatepheasanthunting.com/threads/young-bert-the-not-right-dog.7421/ The rest are numbered...

    Canyon ferry

I have a vague memory of some department, or organization, taking eggs from penned birds and putting them in wild hens' nests. As I recall it was somewhat more successful, with the wild hens teaching survival responses to the chicks. Don't remember more; but it struck me as incredibly labor...

    LOST DOG in Sioux Falls

    Removing Nest Predators

Just a thought: for the time and expense, you might be well-advised to call around and see if you can find an experienced trapper to work your 160 acres. Maybe add a little stipend for success. Trapping is work, skinning is work, sometimes you need a freezer to save the hides before the rat...

    MT Non Residents Bill

You, Sir, have discovered one of the keystones of "political action." They have acted decisively by enacting a law which changes nothing.. or certainly nothing that offends any political donors for their continually on-going solicitations for campaign funds. And so it goes... (K. Vonnegut)
