I'm of the opinion that length of pull may be he most crucial factor in accurate shotgun shooting. Lengthen, shorten, cushion, install or remove spacers...the right change makes a HUGE difference in one's success.

One of the first things you might do is read A HUNTER'S ROAD, by Jim Fergus. It's a very well-written book by a hunter who took to the road for about five months, touring America with his sort-of trained young Lab. It might give you some ideas. Enjoy your retirement.

I have a vague memory of some department, or organization, taking eggs from penned birds and putting them in wild hens' nests. As I recall it was somewhat more successful, with the wild hens teaching survival responses to the chicks. Don't remember more; but it struck me as incredibly labor...
